This album was definitely a grower for me. I really enjoyed her first studio album Sawayama. However, in my opinion, I love Hold the Girl more album than Sawayama. It feels more personal and I could see the growth in the album. Sonically took some time to grow on but this was one of the best albums of the year I've heard.

I'm such a huge fan of this album, I know a lot of people prefer her first one but I think the more you listen to this one as a whole the more it grows on you. I think it's so reminiscent of a lot of J-Pop and soft J-Rock sounds of the 2000s, a lot of nostalgic sounds for japanese diaspora folk. I really liked how she tied these nostalgic sounds to the theme of the album, while also using more modern sounds in her more rageful or darker songs.
