I'm so happy you liked it! It's a beautiful work and every time I listen to it I feel excited like I would be listening to it for the first time :D My favorites from this project are probably SOME TYPE OF SKIN and STARVATION. When it comes to what I would like to see next I have a couple of propositions. MARINA - ANCIENT DREAMS IN A MODERN LAND I always recommend and always will recommend this album, since you didn't react to it when it was released back in 2021 but you can still listen to it now. It's a wonderful, self-written project that goes back a little to her early works when it comes to the sound of it. MEGAN THEE STALLION - MEGAN I don't really enjoy rap music but this project is super fun so I think you should check it out. PARAMORE - THIS IS WHY It's my album of the year 2023 and it's definitely worth giving it a try. So many different sounds and it's still super fun! HAVE A GOOD DAY MISS GIRL!

I think aurora meant for it to be grounded and down to earth and more hitting as opposed to IOADK and ADKOH being more airy and light given the subjects she explored on these albums. The change of production is honestly genius and warranted. Lol the tone after dreams did really change, it’s as if she woke up from the dream!!

She has said she chose the title based on how people used to think of the heart as our soul: The source of our feelings; dreams, etc. And overtime people became greedy, focusing on material things and reaching a high economic or social standar. That's why she asks "What happened to the heart?" since it used to be so important for human kind but that importance of feeling and being human became overshadowed by certain changes in society.

I loved watching this video, I was so curious to see other people's thoughts on the album because it was so impactful for me personally! It really amazed me how closely and darkly she confronted topics like desensitization to atrocities, environmental destruction, trauma in the home, religion, and complicated romantic relationships. It seems to me like she was very purposeful with switching up the sound - it felt like the more electronic sounds represented the chaotic repression and release of emotions (Starvation, Do You Feel, My Name, and others all include her begging the world/a partner to show more empathy and heart). Meanwhile, songs like The Essence, Dreams, and Earthly Delights were a lot more free-flowing and vulnerable in their emotional content. I also felt like maybe the difference between the music in this album versus her others has to do with her wanting to reiterate that she is human. I think about "there is a flaw in manmade matters, but you are pure and we have to get you out of here" (ADKOH) and "one day i will penetrate the earth and explode in motion sound" (Dance on the Moon) VERSUS "wouldn't it be tragic if there is no light in me, not any magic?" (Invisible Wounds) and "i know i belong here, on earth" (To Be Alright). That's a big part of why I felt the album was so important for her to release - AURORA is a human just like the rest of us, and just like the rest of us she's hurt by what's happening in our world and doesn't know how to help it. Anyway, I just wrote this out because I've been really itching to talk about this album, and it made my day to get the notif for your review :) The tone change after Dreams is SERIOUS haha

We return to Aurora ♥️♥️ and venture forth into some more earthly tunes as we tend to the matters down here. This album was manifested on a more personal level and it landed for me very deeply, scarily deeply even. I listen to myself throughout this album and I found all kinds of new personal rythms of life to tend to, dance to, and love to. Definitely different than her previous, and for how much I regard Step 1 and 2, this one has resonated with me personally the most. She doesn't miss. My favorites? Agreed, a very different feel on this album. Was jarring for me at first, but pretty much everything has grown on me, it's a no skip album for sure. Starvation in particular grew on me, I'm not usually a fan of club music. But the message of resilience and forging ahead despite it all just resonates so hard. Especially leading in to The Blade where simply moving forward evolves in to fighting back using the strength you gained in the struggle. So many new details I notice bringing new insights and feelings every time I relisten to this album, I love it. And I just listen and sit in the emotion for the more vulnerable songs. The Essence, Dreams, and Invisible Wounds in particular. So cathartic and validating. Like you said, this is such a human album. I love it

I am glad you enjoyed it!! On my first listen, the run from Earthly Delights to the end of the album had me almost sobbing. My favorite is My Body is Not Mine, especially that emotional outro. Pleaseeeeee react to Girl with no Face by Allie X this year. It's introspective like What Happened to The Heart, but has far less of a fairy tale/mythological moral feeling to the songs. (Not that it's a bad thing Aurora does that, btw.) Another banger album is All Born Screaming by St. Vincent.

This album has really grown on me over time and I think it's one of her best! I hear something new that I love with each listen whether it be a melody, a backing vocal, a particular lyric, or an instrumental. I agree that this project feels more earthly/pop, though I think Aurora's always had those elements woven into her past work, so it still feels cohesive with the rest of her discography. I'd love to hear your thoughts on Florence + The Machine's most recent album Dance Fever from 2022! It's one of her best imo! I think you'd also really love Noah Kahan's album Stick Season (also from 2022). He's an incredible lyricist and advocate for mental health and I think he's actually incapable of writing a bad song!

i watched a couple of the interviews of the rollout for this album and she has said that this album is about the current climate of the world, she’s very sparse when she speaks but the fact that this one feels more “earthly” or “human” is very intentional as in here she’s communicating one on one with humanity desperate looking for answers and healing. i loved your reaction babes i knew you were gonna like it 🤍
