I feel like you’d made up your mind on this album before you even clicked play ngl :/ This for me is THE album of 2024 and by faaaaaaaar Camilla’s best album to date. The songwriting is fun but also still cutthroat, the production is edgy and different but still true to Camila and her style, and the themes in the album aren’t the same old ones! The disrespect to BOAT and June Gloom!!!!!!!!!!! Camila deserves all the praise with this album, and I think it’s a shame that just because other female artists are rising in fame (not naming anyone in particular) doesn’t mean that we should just fall into the trap of ‘following what’s mainstream’ and shaming what’s not!!

I don’t think it sounds like Charli just because there’s “hyperpop” in there. I listed the reasons why it’s clear she was very inspired by Charli. The pitch of auto tune she chose, the flows and way she inflected her line delivery, and on some songs instrumentally. The majority of these songs have at least one of the elements I listed that is borrowed from Charli. Even down to the title. I get it if y’all aren’t as familiar with Charli’s sounds, but as an avid fan it’s clear to see Camilla was inspired.

WAIT -- I didn't understand this album at first, either, but you have to consume it as a very stylized musical storytelling. Camila has always painted with sounds, and with this album, she's sonically painting the experience of trying to process a breakup by partying (or trying to... but ultimately facing those feelings, maybe alone at a restroom at a party). This album is the definition of "sad twerking" -- getting a little drunk, feeling yourself as you go out (Chanel No. 5), trying to boss up but ultimately getting emotional (Dade County Dreaming), and leaving the party to cry (BOAT). But yeah, I think if you approach this as just a pop record, it won't make sense, and is actually quite jarring compared to Camila's past work. It certainly took me a few listens to understand the artistry going on here, but once I got it, the project as a whole became immediately more impressive (and made me respect Camila as an artist, rather than just a singer-songwriter), even if I prefer her older albums' sounds.

My favourite by far is June Gloom, and I also really enjoy pretty when i cry, Chanel No. 5, HOT UPTOWN, I LUV IT, HE KNOWS and DREAM-GIRLS. Such fun songs to work out to, or get hyped with your friends on a road trip! It's such a summer album, and I love how much she experimented with her sound. Looking forward to what she does next :)

i feel like personally, this album is a grower (for the majority of people) - there will definitely be mixed reviews when it comes to people who don’t really listen to camila but i think if one day you’re feeling it, you should definitely give it a relisten the album is basically a love letter from her hometown in Miami so the different influences of sound is the reason why it’s all over the place. there is a rumor she’s dropping a deluxe so if it turns out to be true, maybe that can be your opening for a relisten. either way, i’m glad you gave a chance ajay. 🫶🏼

Why does it have to be that deep? Just because she enjoyed other explorative albums doesn't mean she has to enjoy this exploration in particular. I listened to the full album for the first time in this video and while the singles have grown on me a lot, I totally agree with her that a lot of the songs sound messy on first listen. And it's not like critics or the general public agree with you either so I don't see the point in bashing her for her opinion. Also, obviously you can enjoy City Girls and Lana music separately but might not enjoy those sounds combined.

this album has grown on me a LOT i was hesitant at first bc I'm not a big camila fan in general, but i really appreciate her taking a risk with the sound. and it makes sense to me sonically as a love letter to miami (the diverse/vibrant/loud/chaotic culture & energy), it's a post-breakup album where she discovers a new sense of freedom & self-love back in her hometown. the songs that have grown on me the most were dade county dreaming, boat, and june gloom. honestly 305tilidie makes me tear up a little now.

This album was not it for me when I heard the first single "I luv it" which you enjoyed but then I gave "I Think He Knows" the second single a try and I didn't like it either. Then I heard "I think he knows" accidentally in the media and I enjoyed it and gave the album a try. This album was different from what I listened to. Some of the songs that grew on me were "I think he knows", "Dade County Dreaming", "Hot Uptown", and "Dream-Girls".

Definitely do a revisit!! I was so whatever on her but it sneaks up on you. Would love to hear your thoughts on June Gloom, you said was interesting but I wanted to hear more. At least she walks the talk bc she’s is on and off again with her poet boy even after this album, so it’s honest although complicated and Uuugly. I’m happy she took her Havana money and stuck to her guns with something weird, both in individual tracks and the album as a whole (a solo Drake song and barely appears on others, but I kinda dig it as a tapestry).

To be honest I couldn't care less about this project. It's her worst one so far. I will watch your video later today tho so maybe I can relate to some opinions. After watching the video nothing changed. I still think I LUV IT is the highlight of the album and none of the later songs is even close to it. Every single interlude feels out of place and the album as a whole doesn't create a work I would ever listen to in my own time. Kinda upset you still haven't reacted to MARINA - ANCIENT DREAMS IN A MODERN LAND since people have been writing comments about this album ever since you came back last year. It's worth giving it a listen with many bold lyrics and fun sounds. I would say it's a great album and definitely stands at the top with FROOT or THE FAMILY JEWELS :D Have a good day Ajay. I Thank Chanel Number 5 is the song you should react to again. Your reactions were cohesive and very similar to what I commented about this album with my friends (even if I am a Camila’s fan). If you could please react to “Familia”, an album she released before this one in which she gets in touch with her Latinx roots, the general public loved that one which is why I think she wanted to experiment a little more with her sound so that she wouldn’t be “stuck” with this “Señorita/“Bambam” (Familia’s most popular track) type of sound. The two songs that grew on me are B.O.A.T and Dade country living. B.O.A.T perfectly encapsulates the feeling of going out after a breakup, hearing the 2000s songs that are meant to hype you up and be fun, but instead get drowned out by your thoughts and emotions. The use of the sample is perfect, the melody and immediate recognition of the song make it hard to miss, but it has a haunting feeling to it, it sounds mournful. Dade country living feels like the opposite nights during a breakup. The ones where you go out, but the night just hits, the vibes are good and you feel on top of the world, careless and reckless, still hurting but dancing it off with strangers, taking you mind off it.

In her Apple interview she said that she was listening a lot of hip hop albums, mostly Drake's albums. but I think if she had fully embraced hyperpop it would have sounded less chaotic. Since hyperpop it's a better genre to mix other genres with. And also, hyperpop it's getting very mainstream with the release of Brat.

So this album was camila’s first project under interscope records. What went wrong here to be honest is the sound consistency and the promo. Camila teased this era with small clips that include hyperpop production which started an online feud where people accused her of stealing charli xcx’s sound. Camila then stated that this album’s sound is meant to sound like the aesthetic of MIAMI where she grew up in. When the album released it sounded nothing like hyperpop, but was a clash of all sorts of genres and I believe her production team half assed it especially having El guincho on this project who previously worked on Rosalia’s (motomami). This album could’ve slapped way harder with a better single layout , painting a clearer picture of the aesthetic and if the producers really took it a level higher with production. Camila quotes that it’s a very experimental album however to me it feels like she does experiment but she didn’t truly rebel with it. If she did go for a hyperpop production on this album it would’ve made more buzz and it would’ve suited allot of the tracks melodies like (chanel no.5) I could definitely hear it being a hyperpop track.

i will say, this album is definitely a grower. i didn’t get it at first, but since then, i caught myself revisiting it quite often! my fave songs are I LUV IT, B.O.A.T, chanel no.5, twentysomethings and pretty when i cry! btw, chloe just released her sophomore album, Trouble in Paradise! ravyn lenae also released her newest album, Bird’s Eye!!! two great projects i would love to see react to!! stay safe and have a great rest of your weekend!!🌴🤍

girrrrrrrrl i was worried ab this one😭. but for context, Pink Pantheress produced “pink xoxo” and Camila has full songs with her and BLP Kosher on an alleged deluxe called “baby pink” (with pantheress) and “Godspeed” (with kosher). also for context of “UUUGLY”. according to camila, its just a long ass outro drake did for “Hot Uptown” but it was so long that they made it its own song since Camila liked it. my thoughts - i dont hate this album (i dont love it either tbh) but it more or less just felt like alot of pieces to me instead of something full , like it wasnt done yet idk🤷🏽‍♂️. its definitely a grower album but even w how much its grown on me, i still think its v subpar compared to what weve seen Camila herself do. i think its got some good moments but overall leaves more to be desired

C,XOXO is a love letter to Miami, which is what makes Camila who she is now. This album can be confusing if you're not looking at the bigger picture, but hopefully, you'll give it another try or take some time to understand it a little further. The album is truly amazing to me because she's trying something new. It's kind of what a summer album sounds like, so she was showing a side of herself that she usually doesn’t. In C,XOXO, Camila explores themes of love, vulnerability, and self-discovery, all with the vibrant energy of Miami as the backdrop. The album reflects her Cuban-Mexican roots and her experiences growing up in a city that’s full of life and culture. When you see “pink xoxo,” it kind of goes with the context of “hugs and kisses.” Maybe I’m missing something, but these are just things I pick up from the album. Not sending hate, just information. Looking forward to seeing if you warm up to this album!

C, xoxo it's a very divergent album, there are people who like it and there are people who don't like it - since this album experiments and mixes hip-hop with other genres. But, I liked it, I think it's bold and artistically risky for Camila, in the best way possible. It brought something different to her besides the pop singer/singer-songwriter who has Latin influences. Every time I listen to the album I fall more in love, of course there are some tracks that I skip, being Ugly and Koshi Xoxo. But apart from these two, the rest grew on me a lot. Chanel N°5, He Knows, B.O.A.T and June Gloom are the highlights of this album for me.
