early access!! the whole "mafia" trope seems to be huge in the asmr roleplay space, but i've never really tried it before. here's my take on it. hope you like it.

Look I've listened to a few mafia boss roleplays and like 30 seconds in I'm pleased as punch that you didn't force an over the top accent. 😂

Hm… true, everyone can decide what to listen to based on their tastes. But also, no need to force it if you don’t enjoy writing it, since that can rob some of the joy and inspiration from the process. As an academic exercise though, perhaps it’d be interesting to study… but only if you *like* that kind of challenge, of course. The unequal power dynamic isn’t exactly a *healthy* one haha, though it’s popular across genres. Plenty of people write stuff for that, but your content has a special warmth to it that seems so heartfelt and almost… redemptive? Which sets it apart from some of the more transactional or even cruel scenarios out there. So no need to compromise that tone if you don’t truly enjoy it. 😊

mm, writing a roleplay like this where the listener and the speaker have a significant power imbalance has never appealed that much to me. i find it kind of icky in a way. but at the end of the day, any listener is consenting to listen to the roleplay, so part of me would like to get over that and try writing something with more of the sort of power dynamics you described. maybe one day.

Haha yeah I’d never heard any mafia stuff either. But you got me curious, so after some ✨research✨ today, it seems like mostly the draw is for the confident persona or the play of power dynamics - either the whole “monster who’s tame only for you” thing or the opposite question of “what if I like that you aren’t always tame?” Your take was more of an inversion where the love interest is similarly a *victim* of that power and desires freedom from it, which seems like a sweeter and more genuine basis for connection. Anyway, fascinating - thanks for sharing!

i’ve seen mafia-related roleplays forever but never really listened to any of them, it just didn’t appeal to me. i thought perhaps i could figure out the appeal by simply writing one instead. i’m not sure if what i wrote is actually similar in theme to any other mafia rp as i still haven’t listened to one heheh

Still in progress listening - I’m curious, as a writer. What drew you to this trope? Honestly, it’s got me curious. How do you choose your inspirations? Trite question, I know. I guess it makes sense - the “forced proximity“ thing. But still. What made you want to explore? - compared to your other subject matter, that is.

This is a good work around the usual mafia trope!!! Love it!!

Never been a big fan of the Mafia boss or their child falls for the listener, However this seems pretty chill.

Love this new dynamic of the Mafias trope. 💕

I love the concept of this. It's not the mob boss but the mobster's son who falls for the listener.

Power imbalance is popular, it’s fantasy so don’t feel too bad about it lol

I've never particularly got the "mafia" trope, but this... made me rethink it. Gorgeous work as usual, Phas 💖

there's something innately icky about this kind of thing to me - the power imbalance and the idea of the listener being a prisoner skeeves me out a bit. so in this take i tried to de-ickify it a bit. glad you liked it!
