🕑 Added 2016-12-21 18:08:54 +0000 UTC More images from my Equestria dreamscape. This is Quick Silver one of Celestia's Mares-in-Waiting who is practicing her hoof-to-hoof combat skills. The fighting style is an old earth pony fighting style. Kind of a pony equivalent to the French Savate school of martial arts.The slabs that Quick Silver is breaking are pieces of roofing slate that are leftover from various roofing projects at the palace.
Also of note, she's wearing full steel shoes with small steel studs no more than a quarter inch long. However those studs concentrate all of the force of her kicks and punches on a very small area increasing their penetrating power.

Oh she knows some of basics of earth pony hoof to hoof, and as you noted she's got a knack for kicking projectiles at targets quite well.

Safety tip: never stand behind Applejack. She's also trained in martial arts of some kind (if hitting a target with apples dead center by kicking them is any indication).

That would make for an interesting sparring match since aikido is all about redirecting and using an opponents energy against them. I think Quick Silver would find it very enlightening.

Not all of the are Amazons, or mares for that matter, but Celestia does have a personal team of ponies who handle "difficult" jobs.
