Baron Engel

Yes the changelings have planned this out very well.

Baron Engel

She can do that but there are limitations, side effects, and consequences for Last Thing, so it's not something she does all the time.

McClaw

Now we have a clue as to how the changelings got into position for the attack on Canterlot. The boat "accident" would have been an excellent opportunity to replace young Purple Martin, with reaction to the incident explaining any changes in behavior. (But it's some cuckoos who put their eggs in the nests of other birds, i.e. brood parasites.)

It occurs to me that Last Thing has an interesting potential use of her power. If I'm right, she can execute multiple branching conversations with the same individual, and if the entire conversation is within the window of her time tweaking, she can have the conversation, get the response, and then effectively erase the encounter from everypony else's reality. It would be really useful for rolling dice in RPG games. :D

I honestly dont see Trotter as a threat. Purple is a REAL threat and she is playing a most seriously dangerous game. When common sense says to back off and lay low she goes on the attack. Either very clever or seriously dumb. Either way Celestia now knows she is up to something. But then again Purple will know that too.

ColdSilverD

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

Baron Engel

No he was just one of the guard ponies who showed up after the arrest. Beyond that he's a normal guard pony who runs errands, patrols the palace like other guard ponies, keeps watch in the stockade, and stands around in armor and tries to look impressive.

ColdSilverD

Oh, I thought he was part of the investigation of the break in of the palace.

Baron Engel

Well Trotter isn't involved in any investigation anyways. To Celestia's knowledge he's just a corporal in the guard who is a bit bookish, but has an excellent service record.

ColdSilverD

Didn't think of that. Good point. Don't know how Celestia is going to keep a eye on Purple. Look forward to seeing that. But I'd think it would be smart to remove Trotter from the investigation, given its sensitive nature. If there is any question, he souldn't be near anything delicate. Its not like Celestia has to give an excuse.

Baron Engel

Oh Celestia knows that something up, but she also knows that someone is keeping those 3 under close surveillance. And Celestia has stated that she believes them. She's just being forced to have to play a much bigger game. The mares don't like it, but they've been part of the court long enough to know if Celestia says no she has a good reason.

ColdSilverD

And Purple just got exactly what she wanted: the ones who are the current greatest threat from taking a closer look at her. A pity Celestia didn't listen to Phoenix, who's instincts are so strong and typically right. If it weren't for the press issue, Celestia probably would have allowed a closer investigation into both Trotter and Purple. And that will cost her greatly. I hope Phoenix survives the invasion so Celestia has to apologize.
