The bizarre critiques of this episode reminds me of people who complained about kids running around a Russian bunker in season 3 making jokes and the Soviets bumbling around not catching them.... ...this show is trying to emulate tv/movies/media of the 80's. It is NOT trying to be how real life was like in the 80's. No one should be viewing the "coming out" scene through the lens of how a real situation might have been with a real gay kid and and their friends and family in the 80's. It boggles my mind that after 5 season of this show, people are still complaining about a "lack of realism"

I read a comment somewhere; someone said when they came out in 80s, living in the south, it wasn't that big of a deal according to the person. I get that this would be a big deal for those who are gay, bi, trans. Afraid of being unloved and rejected. But Hollywood likes to overdramatic everything. Arcane did a great job of how they reveal Vi and Caitlyn sexuality. It's one thing when a heterosexual person express their dislike of how Will comes out. It's more accurate when you have actual gay, bi, and trans people who express cringe and embarrassment by how they're represented on screen.

I feel like you can't expect that kind of realism in this show. It also doesn't address racism, and barely even touches upon sexism in the 80s. Also, there are so many "unbelievable" things that happen in this show, and you're worried about the "coming out" scene?!

The problem with the comnig out scene, it's not believable. That's not how a coming out scene would have happend in the 80'S. His mom, brother and best friend should have been the only person there. Everybody else makes it shitty.

that would be very much illegal to do even though alot of react channels do that. so yeah you gotta have ur own copy of the show/movie

I'm new to this patreon membership. I don't get it, are we supposed to put this video picture in picture while watching the show? I thought footage of the show would be here as well like on YouTube.

I honestly see nothing wrong with this episode. My only suggestion would've been release it with the finale instead of volume 2. Let episode 6 resolve with Max waking up to Lucas, but leave Holly's awakening in this one. There's so much exposition and setup for the finale in this episode that I get why it landed so soft. The coming out scene was beautiful! They were in a waiting period, so there was no great sense of urgency. Will needed to do it then so he could face Vecna without doubt or fear. I'm glad he just ripped the band-aid off so to speak and talked to everyone at once instead of individually. I just watched the finale in a theater and holy cow it was epic!! Can't wait to see your reaction next week!

Re-watching this with you just after finishing the final episode with my gf and 2 oldest kids is just the best way to start the new year tbh! There's been a very vocal bunch of people complaining about this episode online but it was a great episode and I can't wait to re-watch the final with you! They absolutely nailed it, it's wonderful!!!

Even though I literally knew it was coming bc id seen on twitter, I still cried at the coming out scene without even expecting too smh It was Robin mostly honestly, that proud smile from the background bc she knows what heβs going through - took me out Frustrated with how theyβre treating Elβs powers thoβ¦ itβs the penultimate episode and sheβs straining lifting a metal plate and a truck? She should be tossing that stuff with a neck flick by now mannn
Kraackin
the coming out scene was dumb

Where Holly wakes up, Not Hawkins for sure. Looks like the place they showed us in Season 4 where El sent Henry.
