It's specifically the Amazon-Crunchyroll version that doesn't include the on-screen text translations. Those writings are quite meaningful and add important context to key moments in the movie.

Hey, I'm one of the people who recommended this! Glad you liked it! Like others have said, it's a shame Prime didn't translate the writing, but oh well. I don't think it "ruined" anything, or that you *must* rewatch it to get the "full experience". But, yeah, the only real important point that it missed is that [SPOILER! SPOILER!] when she opens her hand, what's written there is not his name, but just "I love you", which is why her reaction is basically "Well this doesn't help" but with happy tears. And while I don't know if this is confirmed or not, there's a theory that the single stroke on his palm _could_ be the first (half) stroke of "mitsuha", it's a bit large and misplaced for that. But it _could_ be the first stroke of "I love you", implying that she was going to do the same thing but got cut off by timing. I mean, if you _want_ to watch it again that's allowed, I'm just saying you probably don't need to. Sweet film, though. When, towards the start, you were like "Aw, is it going to be a cute love story" or something I was like "hehe... kinda..." 😛

Have to admit, as a Hafu I take for granted the ability to read Hiragana, Katakana and a bunch of Kanji and did not understand when she couldn't read the notes in the notebooks or on their hands/arms. I was actually stunned to realize that my Crunchyroll (I am a subscriber) DID have these translated and that her free trial through Amazon did not.
