I don't think refusing to change the baby's name makes them an asshole. Personally, if it were within a few weeks or something, I could 1000% see myself agreeing to changing it, but at 4 months, the baby would already have a social security number issued and all that, so it'd be such a massive undertaking to change everything.

The name change story is interesting, Ember is a pretty rare name but imagine if both was a common name like Sarah or whatever, think it would be a crazy thing to ask to change a babies name if its a common name but I think it's crazy to ask anyone to change their or their child's name at all.

I understand that maybe it was shocking but I can't get over that the SIL didn't immediately say "that's so crazy, the baby I lost was going to be called Ember!" when she found out? like even if she didn't know it would bother her yet. But also, idk if the baby's name needs to be changed, especially after 4 months, I think it could be reframed as a really nice way to celebrate and remember the SIL's baby. (and perhaps she could go through some therapy š¶)

im not gonna say that i know what that guy was thinking when he bought you workout shoes but in general guys who arent completely deranged woman haters typically are not thinking about giving women hints to get in shape. its more likely that a guy is just oblivious to insecurities. i think anyway. from personal experience, talking about building healthier habits together was interpretted as me calling my ex-wife f**. which was absolutely not the case. healthy does not correlate well with body composition. i of course learned to be more mindful but a lot of men havent learned that lesson yet. also youre flipping gorgeous, so my money is on he was oblivious.

I donāt think the girl is the asshole for not changing the name. Her sister in law was kind of the asshole when she said sheāll tell her niece that thereās a dead baby with the same name as her and basically torment her for life. That was cringe. The world doesnāt revolve around the SIL and she or even the brother couldāve said something before. Idk what Iād do in that situation but sheās not an asshole at all.
