Oil Championship Oil Analysis Test Results (16 attached test reports).
🕑 Added 2019-05-27 18:02:58 +0000 UTCOil Championship Oil Analysis Test Results (16 attached test reports). After finishing the 1st round of testing, I sent samples of all the oils competing in the oil showdown series to an oil testing lab for analysis. I had a lot of viewers request this analysis and also recommend using the oil testing lab that I chose. I'm not sponsored by the oil testing lab that I used nor am I promoting their service. I paid the same fee as any customer. I hope you find the oil analysis results useful. Once the championship oil contest video is published, I have some additional information that I'll provide the makes comparing various oils a little easier. Thanks for supporting the channel and thanks for the video ideas!

Hi David, Thank you very much for the positive feedback. I wish you a Blessed Day too. Best regards, Todd
David
Always love your work, it takes my guessing work out of the equation! Have a Blessed Day!

Thank you very much for the video idea on hygrometers. Best regards, Todd
BVK
I bought two hygrometers. They both claim 2.5% accuracy. One is reading 32%rh, and the other is reading 54%rh. Hmmmm. Could we have a project to check accuracy?

Thanks for the information on Blue Devil. Impressive repair. Best regards, Todd
ryukry
That Blue Devil even works on Caterpillar C-13 Diesel engine cracked head. Nobody in shops could find a leak to pressurized system but this stuff just sealed the crack where ever it was. Just amazing stuff. It's not cheap but it works !
Project Farm LLC
Hi Glenn, Thank you very much for the suggestion. It did amazingly well on a power steering leak in an old car I own. I need to test stop-leak products soon. Thanks again and best regards, Todd
Glenn Lopez
Blue Devil Rear Main Seal Stop Leak worked amazingly for my Nissan. Testing some of their products might be interesting!
Project Farm LLC
Hi David, Great video idea on testing stop leak products. Thanks and best regards, Todd
David Chiappe
It would be need to see some of the major engine/transmission stop leak products tested and compared. Great comparison on the 2 stroke oils!

Hi Patrick, I've heard of Triax oil but I have not yet tested it. Thank you for the video idea. Best regards, Todd
Patrick Morris
Ever heard of Triax oils? They make some lofty claims of superiority, and are supposedly a huge producer in fleet oil that isn't super well known, would be interesting to know if they are legit or full of it
Stephen
I agree. I too have wondered if they make any real difference anyway.
Project Farm LLC
That would indeed be interesting. Thanks again
Jackson Tucker
You should try to purchase a mass spectrometer then you can do your own oil analysis ๐ Now that would make for an interesting video!
Project Farm LLC
Hi George, Thank you very much. Great video idea on cabin air filters. Thanks again, Todd
GEORGE
I have been watching project farm video's for some time they are very interesting, i recently watched the air filter video and would like to see another one with cabin air filters to see how they compare .

Hi Matthew, Thank you very much for the suggestion on testing gasoline. I don't have the test setup at the moment but will look into the possibility of acquiring the test equipment. I find it hard to believe that the fuel quality is the culprit. My wife's suburban is much too thirsty for more expensive fuel. We buy the least expensive (it's not "top tier" fuel) and we haven't had issues with it over the past 250,000 miles. Thanks again and best regards, Todd
Matthew Kelly
This is really well done and informative. Have you considered, or have the ability to, doing an analysis on gasolines? The reason I ask is that we just spent a ton having the fuel injectors replaced on our 2014 Audi A3 with 85k miles. The mechanic credited poor fuel quality as the source which I find ironic in that we almost exclusively fill all six of our cars up with Costco Premium gas. What I've ling wondered is if there is a difference int he quality of Costco Premium gas and say Shell V Power. Or is it all just marketing?

Hi Gary, Thank you very much for the positive comment and for the future video idea on hard and soft tool bags. Regards, Todd
Gary S
Nicely done testing videos, they show the planning and effort you put into them. As an idea could you test different portable hard or soft tool bags / chests for hand tools; mostly non powered. Maybe limit to ones you can carry with one hand for projects around the house.
Project Farm LLC
Hi Sean, Thank you very much for the test idea. Best regards, Todd
Sean J
I have a video idea. You can test modern off the shelf conventional motor oils against synthetics. Like Quaker State Advanced Durability 5W30 vs Mobil1 Advanced "Full" Synthetic 5W30. New conventional oils meet the same specs and industry classifications as synthetics as you can see on the back of their bottles (ilsac gf5, sn plus) so I'm wondering if they perform the same in your tests? Blackstone Labs which has analyzed thousands of oil samples over the last decade said in one of their newsletters they do not see any difference in wear metals between conventional and synthetic motor oils. Thanks!

Daniel, Thank you very much! I do not have a website yet. I need to get one going but can't seem to find the time for that just quite yet. Thanks again, Todd

Really like your videos! Thanks for running all these tests. Do you have a site or location where you post all of your test results like your charts? I like to use your information when deciding on a purchase but don't always have time to go back and rewatch the video for each product class.

Tuan, Thank you very much for supporting the channel. It' helps a lot. I use every penny of the Patreon money for buying the things I test and with more support I'll be able to begin testing more expensive products. Thanks again and best regards, Todd

Hi Tyler, I've been very pleased with Blackstone Labs. $38 for the full test including TBN seems a little expensive but it's worth it for the quality of work they do

I will use this compant. I have been needing to test my oil after a delete and wasn't sure who to use. Thanks Todd for the content BTW best regards, Coyote2cummins

Neal, Awesome! I've been very please with Blackstone Labs. Well worth the price!! Thanks again

I also use Blackstone! In fact, I just got results back on my new-to-me truck on the first oil change since I've had it (oil I put in) I've also had them do a handful of other analyses

Hi Berkey, Thank you very much for the positive comments! Great test idea on a future video episode on the masking tapes. I've had such bad success with them lasting more than a few months. So, it would be an interesting test! Thanks again, Todd
Berkey
Consumer Reports doesn't have anything on your content. Might consider following up on the painting tape video. In my experience tape performance varies greatly when differences in the humidity, temratures, and age have occurred. So I would be interested to know if a tape stored in a bag of desiccant vs a high humidity environment perform differently in any interesting ways. Keep up the informative and entering content.

Hi Jan, Thank you for this information. If I test it, I'll be sure to buy it from a trustworthy source. Thanks again, Todd
Jan Voigemast
There have been stories about fake xado being sold on ebay.
Jan Voigemast
Additive name is XADO stage 1 revitalizant
Project Farm LLC
Hi Jan, What's the name of the additive? I might be able to buy it on Amazon. Thank you, Todd
Jan Voigemast
Hi, have u heard of an oil additive that can restore an engine. This product lower friction by 300 times and restores all moving parts in engine by forming a ceramicmetal coatin on surfeces. I have tested this product on 20+ cars and result are pretty good. By being a chemist i have used mass spectrometer to see what is inside of the additive and there is nickel- silicon-carbide nano particles inside that will form coating. I am willing to send you the product for free to test it. You can contact me on jan.voigemast@gmail.com

Hi Vasu, thank you very much for the suggestion. I'll do it if there is enough interest. At this point, I've had a ton of requests to test T4 and T6.

I watched your video on "Flap Disk Grinders" and "Grinding Wheels", but could not find one on "4 inch cutting wheel" (cut off wheel). If you have done one, I can't find it. Thanks for all the great comparison reviews.

Todd, as a home owner looking at redoing my gutters I would love to see a comparison on hangers for gutters, gutters and gutter guards.

Todd, would love to see a comparison of various diesel injector cleaners like power service, and diesel purge, and hot shots

Thank you for your reply! I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos. Cheers!

Hi Robert, I just finished filming another penetrating oil video. It's the showdown with the top 3 brands tested in the past, Seafoam Deep Creep, Gibbs, and Liquid Wrench. I need to create an all new series to include the brands I missed.
Robert Johnson
Sir, I would be very interested to hear you're opinion on ACDelco Rust Penetrant and Inhibitor (Part number 10-4020). Its been my go-to for years when dealing with stubborn rusty bolts.
Project Farm LLC
Hi Wade, Great recommendation. I've sort of tested this but not all in the same video. I ran a gasoline engine on Kerosene a while back and it ran well with no exhaust smoke. In a much earlier video, I attempted to run a gasoline engine on Seafoam and it created a huge amount of smoke and ran very poorly. I wouldn't be surprised if there is some Kerosene in Seafoam but there seems to be more to it. Thanks again, Todd
Wade Hoffman
Hello, Could you do a test with comparing seafoam vs kerosene side by side, I've read that seafoam is glorified kerosene, are we really actually paying more for the same product? Thanks project farm.

Thank you very much for the positive comment and for the recommendation to test Raxol.

Hi Thomas, Thank you for the video idea! Regards, Todd

Try the parts cleaner safety clean, the kind that is a 50 gallon barrel with a tub and light on top. I was agverated with a truck so i ran it out of gas and put 1 gallon of safety clean to seeif it would blow. I ran it on SC alone when it ran out i put gas and the motor ran better than new

If anybody has a bicycle engine kit there willing to give away, let me know.
Lucas Hall
Hey man, I love your videos and I think your a really cool and smart guy. Do you think you could help me out and try to get me a 4-Stroke or 2-Stroke bicycle engine kit off of eBay? I'm a bit tight for money, so I can't get it myself. The price for the 2-Stroke including tax and free shipping is $16.16 and the 4-Stroke is $28.42. It would be insanely appreciated. If you got me the 2-Stroke, I have some oil in the shed at my house. To be honest, I would prefer a 4-Stroke but if your the buyer I really don't care. Anyway, I hope you have a good day Todd.
Mike Towers
hi Todd i am not sure how to contact you for a suggestion ..i am interested in spray in foam applications and have some pics i would like to send you ,maybe you could help me solve my problem my contact is miketowers1964@gmail.com thank you for your time....mike

Hi Tony, Terrific suggestion! I'll have to figure out a way to do this. Thanks again, Todd
Tony
I enjoy your practical testing of everyday homeowner items. I have been curious of simulated high mileage, hot idle, pressure test between several brands, types, temperatures and viscosity engine oils. Could it be done just using a small heated reservoir, high mileage oil pump, a gauge, and a long path orifice to represent the engine?
Project Farm LLC
Hi Rob, That's a great video idea! I'll see what I can do. Thanks, Todd
Rob Peterson
Would you consider testing different dry-cut metal chop saw blades?

Hi Peter, Thank you for the video idea! Todd

Dear project farm can you do video cleaning a dirty clogged diesel EGR and intake manifold using oven cleaner spray, I'm told it cleans even the most fillthy dirty engine clean and doesn't corrode

Hi, I have not yet tested eni oil. In my testing, Amsoil performed very well when heated for both evaporative loss and film strength. If you're able to find it, that would be my choice. Thank you

Hi how are you Thank you very much I am grateful to you for your reviews I have shortened a lot on people and your expertise learned a lot I have a Sonata 2015 2.4 engine damage on 55 thousand? I put the oil of Shell HLS 5w30 and with the time of engine damage I do not know the reason specifically, but I think of oil by virtue of our weather in Saudi Arabia and put the engine with new pieces and changed the oil to 500 km at the agent and I do not want to change the oil at the agent because the price is too expensive and exploitative I want to ask About eni oil completely devised 5w30 10 km I change it every 7 thousand km because our temperature up to 45 degrees and the use of walking and stopped What do you think of this oil and is there oil is separated from recommend me? Because I do not want to put my engine back

Thank you very much for the positive comments and for the suggestion to test the European formula oils.
Project Farm LLC
Hi Brett, That's a great video idea! Thank you!

Hey Todd keep up the good work!!!!!! Have you consider testing the European formula oils vs the regular ones (already teated)????
Brett Lindley
idea for you to try, what about utility blades, which ones last the longest?

Fantastic series. You don't by chance have a cost to performance analysis?
Project Farm LLC
Hi Andrew, Thank you for the positive feedback and thanks for supporting the channel. Best regards, Todd

Hey Todd thanks so much. I have used Blackstone labs and they do fine work. I found out this is required for aircraft engines to analyze what is happening inside those motors - a life or death situation if things are not right. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your tests.
Project Farm LLC
The oil chemistry seems very close but I can't say for sure that they are exactly the same. I contacted an oil formulation chemist at Warren Distribution a while back and he wouldn't answer if they are the same. Thanks, Todd

Hi Todd, Have you determined if Amazon Basics and Supertech are one and the same yet? Thanks for all your hard work!

Hi Wolph, Thank you very much for supporting the channel!

Hi Dave, Thank you very much! Todd
Project Farm LLC
Hi Michael, I've considered it but the cost of each test is $38 ($35 per test if bought in bulk) and I don't believe the information from subsequent tests would reveal enough information to make it worth the cost. Based upon experience testing new vs used oil, the additive levels shouldn't be impacted much, if any, from heat just the heat exposure during the testing. Thanks again and best regards, Todd
Old Man Yama
I really enjoyed reading the reports, thank you very much Todd
Mike Taylor
Will you be having labs done after each phase of the test? Such as after round one and the semifinals?

Thank you for the tests, much appreciated. Schaeffers old (1970's) Micron Moly racing oils has a lot of moly and would work much better then any oils I had in my race shop using a one arm tester. i still have some old stock and use it for a special lube mix.
Nickolas Chaney
This is terrific data! Thank you for doing this!
Russell Boehm
Thanks for the informative reports Todd. A good basic report on the general subject of additives can be found at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_additive .
Project Farm LLC
Thank you and hope they provide helpful information. I'll provide more information once the series is finished, combining personal test results with independent test results to provide an overall opinion.
Noland
Thanks for having all these tests done. It's very interesting to me.
Project Farm LLC
Dan, thank you very much. I was surprised that Liqui Moly didn't have more than 1 PPM. Seems like it would use more moly considering its name. Thanks again for supporting the channel!

Thanks for the upload looking forward to the finale!Hm, Moly has no moly. Very instresting.
