Tyler, I live in a very humid spot and have been running dehumidifiers for the last 18 years. I have had many brands and currently have a Haier. It, so far, has run much longer than any other and is as quiet as any. I highly recommend. I have usually got a year or maybe 18 months from a 70qt dehumidifier before something corroded or clogged or whatever, but the Haier is going on 2 years and seems to be going strong (knock on wood!!) If you get one I do hope it serves you as well as it has served me. I even bought another that was slightly damaged to replace this one when it fails but so far that one is in storage. I hope it stays there but the reality is these things only last so long.

i went to harbor frieght and bought their nibbler. i used it for 18g sheet metal for a car and for home roofing tin. the tin was thicker but the nibbler did it's job. think i paid 35 bucks for the nibbler and it cut more than 30 sheets of tin and did a few quarter panels on a car. it's still working. also, depending on what you're using it for or cutting, they have a straight kind and one that looks like a gun, it has a handle. for the tin, it would have been better to get the straight kind for all the curves in the tin. the handle kept getting in the way going up/down on the tin. just things to consider.

Suggestion. Todd excellent work. My suggestion is for you to test locks for weather, especially ice resistance. A lot of people these days have locks on their storage units, sheds, etc. Many people have found these locks not to work well when frozen. That is what I am finding also. Master has a lock they claim is weather proof. Many Amazon reviewers are finding that not to be accurate.

You've got a GREAT list of videos already 🙂 I love the once-a-week release schedule but for me, at least, I don't wish it would come out even faster, I just feel a nice sweet spot of surprise and joy when a new video drops. That last one with the scissors must have been absolutely brutal on your hand 😬 - don't feel pressured to hurry!

Great suggestion. I'm still not sure about the order in which I publish but here's a list: mini bolt cutters, torque wrenches, tap and die sets, best deck screws, wood bits, long nose pliers, right angle attachments, CLPs, and a tool battery comparison. We have frequent power outage here, so after seeing a TV ad, I bought a pair of Bell & Howell lithium-battery powered LED light bars. When they were delivered, I charged them and they worked fine. I keep them shut off and plugged in for 18 months, then there was another blackout. *Ah! I’m all set!* I thought. I brought out the B&H light bars and they glowed dimly for 20 seconds then went out for good. I’d like to see comparison testing on several such emergency-lighting units.

We have an oral and 2 infrared and get a different reading off each. I think Bob the test dummy would even give 2 infrared readings that were different..

My experience is Consumer Reports is hit and miss on their testing anyway. Project Farm would be far more reliable.

Hey Todd, Hope all is well with you and your family. My 6 year old nephew came to live with us recently. We're now having to deal with him being sick (not Covid as far as we can tell), so having an accurate thermometer is a very important issue. There's a confusing array of types and brands to chose from: infrared, in the mouth, ear, forehead, etc. Do you think this is something you might be able to tackle? You may want to separate the categories to test several brands for each type on different episodes. With today's circumstances, an accurate thermometer reading can mean the difference between a hospitalization, school attendance or being able to go to work. Surprisingly Consumer Reports hasn't tested this category at all.

Hi Todd, ever since I mentioned making a “counterfeits” video, I’ve been shaking the tree, trying to find any of my old contacts in the IP Crime world. Unfortunately, everyone I worked with back in the day have retired or moved on. The emails I’ve sent to their general email boxes have gone unanswered. I can’t dig up anything locally - if you were interested to trying it in your area, you could try buying some electrical products in your Chinatown area - look for spelling mistakes on the packaging and poor construction. We used to seize electrical extension cords that said “Heavy Duty - perfect for power tools” but felt like overcooked spaghetti. The wire in them was about as thick as a hair. UL used to test them by coiling them on top of a paper towel and plugging them into a higher draw hairdryer. They’d burst into flames within 45 seconds. We also seized a truckload of power bars that were incredibly poorly-made, with the same super thin wire and fake UL stickers, and bedside lamps for kids that caused several deaths. You can usually find these things in the real low-end grungy “dollar stores”, but not the brand name “Dollarama” or “Anything for a Dollar” stores, although you may. Sorry I let you down - I’m kind of stunned that everyone I used to work with back in the day are gone, and the new people don’t seem to care. If I get any delayed response from anyone, I’ll let you know. Oh, I’ve already said thanks for the report on the metal zip ties, but I went to check on my boat today. We’ve had extremely high winds for the last two days, and I climbed into my boat, with the cover hammering on the frame, and the wind howling (literally) around the boats. For the first time ever, everything is still in perfect shape, with nary a blown zip tie or frame member in sight! This one tip justified my Patreon payments. You ‘da man! Thanks, Lance

I’ve been using “rugged- perfect for winter” plastic ties on my sailboat winter cover for four years. It secures a skeleton of plastic electrical conduit to the boat, with a fitted fabric cover over it. It sits beside the shore of Lake Ontario, covered in snow, and exposed to howling icy winds all winter. Every year, I’d come back, find broken pipes and broken zip ties. The snow would fill in the depression and start to collapse the cover. I’d check it every week and make several repairs every winter, which was a huge pain. I always wondered if it was the zip ties or pipes that were failing. After seeing Project Farm, this year I switched to the metal zip ties he tested. The result? As of yesterday, no breaks, no damage, zero issues. I taped over each metal tie to keep the razor edges from slicing through the cover. Thank you Project Farm!

So... I have a possible video idea... One day, I noticed a crack in my coolant reservoir on my car. I needed to order one, but until it came in, I needed to glue it. I was surprised to find that many glues will not work on certain plastics. PP (polypropylene) in this case... I did find a JB Weld product that worked, but even JB Weld made 2 products that didn't work. I think it was the JB Weld Plastic Bonder that did work. The JB Weld standard did not work, and the JB Weld Plastic Weld did no different than regular JB Weld. I also tried superglue and superglue activator... I did google and discovered that these plastics had a "low surface energy" or whatever. But it leads me to curiosity about which products actually work on these types of plastics. I should point out that I did some basic tests and nylon acted the same as a plastic, however... PA6-GF30 did not act the same. I assume the 30% fiberglass part had provided a bonding surface? Because you are so thorough, I will also point out that scoring with rough sand paper does help in some plastics, but not so much in PP. I bet other people would find this interesting. Just an idea. I love your videos, it always seems like you have fun.
