I hope that next year QT is able to put more into marketing for it and do a whole 15 or 30 second ad for it like they do for the Grammys and other big award shows! And just have it on twitch ads for like two weeks before the awards

Jokes should be funny, Kanye references aren't that funny, even more so when not that many people will get the reference. The most likely failure point for your joke shouldn't result in you (the joke maker) looking like an asshole, but that's what happened to the Faze boys.

Getting offended on behalf of QT is weird. But I think it's fine to think it was disrespectful/fucked for faze to piss on the trophies. You can't on one hand want people to take the awards seriously and talk how thousands of other streamers want to be in those chairs. But then be shocked they get backlash when they take a shot at the awards even if it was a joke. Those streamers who want to be there have fans who want to see them there.

The whole faze drama was wild to me. I had the context that QT and faze are chill and that they all adore QT. It was so easy to see it was a joke and a reference. And I don't even watch Faze. Just all the interactions QTs had over the past year with them. The Grace drama also sucks. I think she should have just stuck with her one moment of dig and left it at that. She shouldn't have done it at all, but she did. Then went after them on Twitter. The faze guys didn't say anything or do anything at the event because of their respect for QT. That was so plain to see. Sucks she dug her own grave on that one. I feel for grace. :(

I'm exactly like Maya. I don't follow anything about Kanye so I didn't know the reference. I don't follow Faze clan because I just didn't like the whole douchebag vibe they had back in the day so I didn't know they paraded the trophies and genuinely loved them. Of course I'd think they were disrespectful. It didn't matter if it's not an Oscar, the Peepo represents the awards, It felt like they were pissing on the whole show. I'm glad it's all a ruse and congrats to all the winners!

If it's not a me thing then maybe that could explain a part of why there were less subs this year? Maybe people weren't encouraged/reminded enough to prime sub too?

I don’t even really like the kind of humour bc i'm one of these overly woke NO JOKES people (those that even Hasan dislikes 😂) so it makes me uneasy that there's a layer of making fun of neurodivergence but he was just soooo funny and good at it. And it is suuuuuch a hard job.

re. the ads; is that something that you could work with twitch to structure better? leave them some slots to run ads in a more structured fashion this would surely be beneficial for both parties. it maybe not even possible from a technical (or contractual) standpoint

I’ve heard QT mention it before I dont remember if on pod or on stream. I think it’s a great idea for orgs or sponsors to buy tables in terms of seeking funding for the show.

Love the show, and the awards, agree about a gofundme would be omega cringe, put me down as an annoying backseater if you like, but I think it could be valid for the content orgs to “buy” their tables. Say OTV has 1 nominee but can bring 8-10 people if they buy out their tables to support the show for $5-10k. This venue maybe seemed too small for that but maybe in a bigger room.
