Use a winch and a quad block and tackle attached at the base of 2 healthy trees. Should be able to generate >50,000lb easily and allows you to pull from 90 degrees offset to the path of the ropes when they snap, keeping you out of the danger zone.

Is there a way you could test the breaking strength of each rope? Maybe see how accurate their claims are. I'm not sure how to do the test safely, but I guess that's why I'm not you!
