Corrupting Power

The mainline QT story gets two chapters each month, and Phil's spinoff gets one. Also, keep an eye out for the news update on Wednesday for even more QT related stuff coming soon!

Cynthia Parker

I'm loving Phil's point of view and hope to read more soon. I had been reading these two stories on Literotica but when I saw that you had more chapters here I had to read them.

Thank you for answering the question of the bottle in the private study. Leave it to an Air Force officer to know her high end scotch!

Rick Shaw

Interesting choices. I like some of the background filling in the gaps, but I felt there may have been a bit too much re-hash and not enough new story - just an impression. Also interesting dialog above. the twist of his vaping pen being thc delivery is an interesting story choice, less a tool for quitting and more medicinal for his nerves, it suggests the pressure is getting to him. And it is definitely a better choice than self medicating with pills.

Fair point.

I mean, it's also been pointed out in the chapter that originally featured this scene that Phil was originally a smoker, and that vaping is a step towards quitting for him. (You can actually note that I think none of the latter chapters of the main QT with Phil in them feature Phil vaping again.) Like many things, it's a stress trigger, and as seen here, Phil's under an insane amount of stress, knowing that he HAS a solution for the pandemic, but that it isn't being deployed, and that people are dying because of it. Imagine, if you will, the stress you might be under if you knew you had a thing which would reduce fatalities of a mass casualty event by 70-90%, and no one was listening. The machine is moving, but not quickly enough for Phil's liking, so his patience slips from time to time...

I guess it's fair that we all have our addictions and so on. For me, Phil is my favorite character in the entire series and I felt "let down" weirdly. That said, it's more incongruous with military and federal work because while there are a lot of easing up on restrictions, these don't apply federally and so it's more unprofessional behavior. I don't say it is immoral I'd rather he just not be mocking people's belief systems and especially when making a big deal of the "follow the science" thing when vaping is scientifically proven to be bad for you. I mean, it's good he isn't a Mary Sue, but...

Lots of people in California. It’s a common marijuana delivery device, especially for people in high pressure jobs, I.e. the tech sector.

SP Rupert

I wonder if the man Niko was supposed to paired with really died before she could get there or if she killed him. Then again I think I’ve proven I out conspiracies where there is none.

I am not the most intelligent guy out there, but one of my friends is an MD, and he smokes, just like me. Intelligence and addiction are not mutually exclusive.

Rurik

I thought Phil was unprofessional and unbelievable as a character when he was being earlier , but he vapes too? What kind of idiot has a doctorate AND a vape pen.

Jeffrey Sutyla

Outstanding! I am loving how this thread reveals deeper layers to the original story. Can't wait to see more of the world through Phil's eyes.

Amazing chapter. Reading scenes we've already read in the other story from a different perspective is awesome. One nit picky thing. (Sorry) the word is Hoosegow. It derives from a Mexican word. I read it in QT and thought it might be a typo. I read it in this chapter and thought I'd let you know. So anyways enough of my OCD. In the end, another superior job. Thanks.
