Knew book 2 was going to be off to a heck of a start after the first sentence. Great work as always CP

Definitely deserves a Lily c*ntpunt lol

Yeah, considering I wanted to sort of give a glancing summary of the first book, I can see a lot of similarities. :)

Hah! This entry is very Much reminiscent of those TV episodes like in Stargate where the lead character is being put under a congressional investigation and the evidence is flashbacks from the show so the audience can be reminded of Germaine plot points that will be used as the show goes forward. I also kept hearing the deep voice over person saying “previously on Quarenteam”

TheMackAttack

Dragon, you’re not understanding my point. I’ve never denied the existence of evil people. My point is that being evil does not, in and of itself, create a worthy antagonist. The antagonist must be competent enough that their winning is a conceivable option. There is nothing compelling about steamrolling a fool. Covington wasn’t competent and Engle isn’t either and those are missed opportunities.

Old Dragon

To counter TheMackAttack and to provide perspective, I have not found ANY of CP's characters in QT to be anything other that truly believable. I must addend this by saying that I have had the displeasure of the opportunity to meet persons who I WHOLEY believe to be evil, and one who makes Covington look almost moral. I have met persons of the political persuasion who make Rep. Engle look positively thoughtful, consistent, and progressive and fare and honest. I have had the 'joy' of meeting people who are convinced that there money, position or other attributes makes them 'better' than other people and thus their opinions have more value. I also have the great pleasure to call many professionally published writers as personnel friends. As such, I understand that fiction is a challenge, for it must follow rules, it must make sense. Reality has no such constraints. CP's writing is some of the best and, most 'real' that I have had the privilege to read.

As expected, knocked it out of the park. As I was snickering at the comment about how to remember all these people and names which is exactly how I was starting to feel. I hate to admit it but I have taken to reading everything at least twice. The first read is because I couldn’t wait to get to it and the second read was to go over anything that bothered me since it might be a misunderstanding of what I read or what I thought it said. It also helps keep things clearer in my head. Don’t ever read an in depth story on pain medication…it makes things just that much more difficult to understand and remember clearly. The best part is that since it is a story that I have become totally obsessed with, reading it multiple times is actually fun but then I have seriously loads of free time. Thanks for all your time and effort you put into your work because it clearly shows.

I really like this story

I love it. keep writing this is one of my favorite series out of every series I have read from any author.

Wow! Book two is off to a great start. I will say I was a bit taken aback by Rep Engle's vitriolic attack. Part of that may be attributed to her displeasure she could find nothing to use against Andy, but I did find it a bit shocking. Not everyone on the opposite side of the ideological divide is an asshole and as a person in authority I would have thought she'd have at least tried to understand Andy's position and perhaps made a small effort to nudge Andy slightly toward her 'side' of the political spectrum. Or... it may just be that I am not used to that level of hatred being so blatantly expressed. Being able to civilly discuss our differences is more MY style. But, the differences are what make this story so fascinating.

Cant help but think this series will be your magnum opus. Great start to book 2 looking forward to seeing the rest

I'm not above taking helpful criticism. I'll see if I can try and make the Rep. a bit less cartoony moving forward, although it's also worth noting that trying to provide satire of zealous people can be quite complicated, because in many cases, when you feel like you're not going even as far as the people you see on TV, people will tell you that it's not believable. I'll keep working at it.

TheMackAttack

I did notice that, I just brushed it off as another one of her inexplicable hypocrisies. "Family values" but remarried rapidly after her husband died. Covington is another example of what I'm talking about. In his introduction as a character he tells Andy, who he has never met, that women should be seen and not heard. My first thought was that a man that pompous isn't doing his own grocery shopping, but more importantly nothing he could say or do would surprise me at any point in the future because he's so blatantly evil. It made all the rest of the stuff not hit as hard. Neither the fact that the poker game exists, nor Piper's condition are too shocking because how can anything be too far for the guy who tells strangers that women should be seen and not heard? If the original meeting is a 'there's something off about him' moment, the poker game reveal is a 'wow, I never expected him to be so terrible' moment, then the Piper reveal is a 'holy shit he's a monster' absolute gut punch moment that rockets the tension way up right at the start of the poker game and Andy realizes that he's not just playing for Niko's friends, he's saving multiple women from absolute hell. It also helps clean up some other questionable plot points. Secret agent Emily was super forced and Sheridan being put up as collateral is only addressed in passing. I believe this is coming across as more critical than I want it to, so I hope you'll give me the benefit of the doubt and won't pull a Larissa and tell me to shove it up my dick. I think the whole concept and the world you're building are extremely interesting and unique and I've enjoyed the story quite a lot.

Corrupting Power

One thing I will call out that's sort of a "blink and you'll miss it" moment, but the Rep. is reeling from the death of her husband not more than a month or two ago. Frankly, I tried to write it so that *nobody* comes off as their best in this chapter, *including* Andy, so we can see most of the people are sort of at the end of their rope.

Shaqjor477

Oh, I am 1000% with you on that! Such a giant stuck up c^ntwaffle...

TheMackAttack

I really enjoy the story overall, but I can't help but feel like all the antagonists are poorly done and a huge drag on the story. They are all just evil for the sake of it without any evidence of competence at all. Take Engle for example. "If you are who you say you are", like wtf does that mean? He just did an interview with Katie Couric, of course he is who he says he is. And if he was a foreign agent like she was claiming, why would she just blurt it out and give away the game? She attacks him for not having any shame and bartering women like property at the beginning and then at the end calls him a sissy for wanting their opinions. She complains about Hollywood elites and then calls him a peasant. There is no substance or coherence to her. She's not a compelling antagonist, she's a cartoon villain.

was worth the wait, tots didnt see that coming next chapter soon please

Kaywye

No you aren't alone Tracy. Amazing chapter...is it January yet? Lol

So, am I alone in wanting to strangle the Rep? Really well written. I cannot wait for the next chapter.

Smcrae5639

Sooooo, when is the next chapter coming out. I assure you it won’t be soon enough.
