Status update Episode 10

I continued working like I did the week before, by playing through different branches and polishing scenes. So far, I've played the first ~75% of Sage, Josy & Maya, some of the Others variations, and Jill branches.
When I play this way, I ensure that the story flow is good regardless of the branch. And I'm starting to feel that it's coming together.
I've fixed many small to big parts along the way. For instance, last week, I mentioned how I worked on the non-minigame route, and this week, I did the final tasks related to it by completing the final versions of both beer pong and new brawler.
Polishing can also be something small, like re-rendering an image that didn't come out great or re-writing a section because the dialogue wasn't what I wanted. And sometimes, it's something bigger, like moving an entire scene to a different part of the episode and ensuring it doesn't break continuity. Or it's something else, like writing code or adding new animations, renders, sound effects and songs.
I returned to work on the biggest free-roam event again, as it wasn't in a playable state how I left it. It was in a state where 90% of its events were completed, but as a player, you couldn't click arrows, or buttons, start the scenes, or even continue to play the episode after. I didn't even have a good feel of how it played until now. Putting together the environment and scene code can be tricky, but after episode 9, I got more experienced with it, and planning how to achieve it is always one of the first things I do when I work on a free-roam event.
One of my biggest concerns when developing new episodes with this level of branching is that for every part of the episode you branch, it cuts playtime from the episode. Yet, with episode 10, I don't feel that when I play it. I've felt that everything is rich in content, regardless of branch. And that's a good sign that I'm on the right track.
I'm carefully considering which branches need something more. Even if it's just a small scene, it can make a huge difference and tie the knot on that branch.
Overall, there are some big differences between branches and plenty of canon content with variations to make the episode feel different, depending on your choices. Having choices matter in this way is a truckload of work, and it can be hard to keep track of all variations, but the payoff feels worthwhile, and I'm sure you will feel that too.
I've added more renders and animations to many scenes these last few weeks. The numbers are not comparable to creating a new scene, but they add up and inflate the episode some. I'm somewhere over a total of 4800 renders so far.
Now, I am working on missing art for the remaining scenes and will mostly spend the next week animating and posing static renders. I'm having a lot of fun working on it.
Last weekend, I installed the new PC, which has been rendering since with great results. The transition went smoothly. There are currently 25 animations in the render queue.

hey.... it will be released when it is released..... he's working on it its impossible to give a ETA when he polishes his stuff finds things that are wrong in his stuff so he can give you a finished product finished game... finished episode.. its impossible to give a release date.... let him work on his stuff and when he releases it you will know.... isn't that cool.... hahahaha O.o

hes the only one that does it... he might have people that test his content and tell him what to correct in writing... or errors. a proof reader as you will... but he creates it himself... i dont think people get that yet. he created it. its his. the story his the animations his created by him alllllll created by him. he just has a team to help proof read and test. and tell him if there is anything wrong with it spelling errors. then HE fixes them. thats it.

I wouldn't say they make the wait feel shorter, but at least we are given enough information so we know WHY it is taking as long as it is. The people on Steam have it rough, waiting for a long time without even the clue about how development is going.

I agree with A10. If your MC is Neutral or low Chick, I could see Zoey realizing that MC is still the same person he was when she left. Which in turn would allow for rekindling old feelings she MAY / or may NOT have had for MC. Just my two cents...I may be wrong.

We can only hope that he does what some smart contractors do and say it will take a week when they figure it will take 4 days. If it takes a week, everyone is satisfied. If it takes only 4, then it's a bow on top.

Hopefully there's still a bit of stuff for the "absolute loser" branch where the MC doesn't even have a relationship with any Others. Not really expecting much there, just the occasional bit of dialogue that acknowledges it (Season 9 does, in the Moose Bar, for example). What can I say, I like to explore all the options, including all the bad ones. :)

I've been dying for the next episode. I know it's going to be worth the wait but this is tough. The ending to some of the paths in episode 9 have had me itching for the continuation. I laughed so hard at the end of the Maya/Josy path that I pulled a muscle, the look on his face was priceless I can't wait to see the fallout.

I really enjoy comprehensive updates like these. I’m glad you walked away with lessons learned from episode 9. For the most part it was good but there were a couple of rough spots (needing to read the hints to progress while not knowing they’re behind you and already having figured out what to do was my biggy.) the rest of the navigation was mostly good and better than previous navigations where some made little sense or weren’t as intuitive.

The main point to me DPC is that you are having fun doing it. This means the end result will be something amazing! I'm looking forward to it but can wait for it knowing it will be another chapter in what has become my go to game when I'm bored, when I'm feeling down, when I'm wanting some laughs. I always look forward to one of your status update every week and I love your updates very much it is unlike any other developers because it's very detailed, also we know exactly what's happening with the game and that we are not waiting in vein that progress is very slow but actually your progress is one of the fastest progress because it feels like that you have become a pro game developer after seeing your progress even though I felt you were pro devop since the first episode of BaDIK and even in acting lessons btw I loved that game very much and is one of my fav game so far. Oh lawd it's comin! I always admired the borderline insane attention to detail and the cause/effect that BaDIK offers. So yeah, I can totally believe that keeping track of all the minute choices and details and making them count is not easy. And I'm sure the payoff to see the branching done well will be great.
