Mr. Bigglesworth

You have returned!

0xFFF1

I think the issue these comments aren't getting is that, based on the cultural knowledge we have about witches, a Witch's Path to Power is the concept of Sacrifice. It's what differentiates them from the generic Wizardess, whose Path to Power is Knowledge. It's perilous for the user because sometimes you need to Sacrifice some part of yourself rather than some captured schmuck, and if you sacrifice the wrong thing for something that isn't worth it, it'll permanently screw up your build, since there are no do-overs. Eve has the cheats and resources and Trait-backed intuition to figure out how to get exponential power from each Sacrifice.

Mr. Bigglesworth

I guess where I'm confused, what you think lower-level enemies will do that she can't stop at the moment?

ShadeByTheSea

Just a little dismayed that all her new powers recently seem to be limiting her abilities, while giving her new powers that in my mind she should have already had because of the bargains and skills she's taken previous that where supposed to be added to her domain. Like there's no reason to take away the super cool mass paper attacks, specially if their useless against higher tier enemies. She should be able to get the growth weapons and keep the cool, but useless(against equals) abilities. Adding her curses to paper is an ability she already had. The new weapons should have just cost materials and/or skill points.

Mr. Bigglesworth

No. She gave up Cursed Dice to roll them into Nota, a sentient familiar that can give advice and keep her from death, which the dice did not do. She gave up offense and defense from basic paper that wasn't even close to the same level of power into a much stronger form now. Throwing sand on her clothes wouldn't that. I'm not sure why you assume that paper clothing is the same as paper armor. She could apply curses to the bullets, yes, but since they are not part of her, once they hit elemental defenses, they were sub-par. That's why she upgraded to this. Domain use gone? Where are you getting this from? Why would she need to defend with paper armor when she can use her Domain to send physical attacks straight to inventory like the sand she did for the storm. Paper sheets, even ones made of metal controlled, are not connected to her mana at a deep enough level to harm a partial or fully elemental body. That's why she switched. She created weapons because they both conceal and apply the Curse Runes. She is by no means weaker. She is much, much, much stronger.

ShadeByTheSea

Idk, once again she's giving up things for abilities she already had. I mean she gave up growth weapons for Nota. Only to give up most of her power over paper to get them back. Now someone could throw sand at her and her disguises and clothes will just disappear because their "armor". She could already apply the curses to her paper, that's what her little bullet things where. Course now those are gone too. She's not even a domain user anymore because she just gave up most of her domain abilities. She gave up the ability to make a storm of mithril, adamtine, or many other magical metal paper sheets for a cultivators flying sword array.

Mr. Bigglesworth

Correct! For some reason, Inguz got removed...training Grammarly is hard :(

Darcy Lessard-Patola

You are missing one non-combat rune. You only list four of them that she put in her hair.

Nice chapter, I look forward to seeing what she does next.
