New series: Behind the scenes of Funfair
🕑 Added 2024-09-23 00:36:07 +0000 UTCHave you ever heard of something called "Funfair"? A sort of story I may have made a few years ago, featuring two of my favourite characters... Rings a bell? No? Not at all?
Well, the comic is out there for anyone to read. I said some time ago that Funfair took almost 7 years to make from start to finish, but the first part only came out in 2017 – five years before the story wrapped up. Whatever happened in those two-ish years before it came out?
So, I'd like to regale you with stories about Funfair's development! Please be warned that most of what I will show you is incomplete (they are prototypes for a reason!), and most likely very bad.
And, what better way to start things off than the beginning... In February of 2015. Back then, the story didn't have a title at all – shocker, I know – and didn't take place even remotely near an amusement park! It was set to be a comic (probably around 20 pages long) that depicted Conker and Banjo's fishing trip. So, Fishfair, maybe? Funfish?
The gist of it is as follows: Banjo wakes up a groggy Conker early in the morning so they can go fishing together. While they wait for fish to bite, they discover their attraction for each other. They take off their clothes, start touching each other... until they eventually have sex in the boat, and ultimately get thrown in the water as it gets toppled because of their intense rocking. But, all is fine, and they swim back to shore naked and head back indoors, gayer than ever.
Now, my summary here makes the essentials of the story... If you dare to have a read at my bare-bones script, you'll realise I wasn't quite as good with words then as I am now (at least, I think :v).
That was the very beginning of the story featuring these two surprising lovers. But, the ship has sailed another way, and only a few weeks later did I decide to go for an amusement park theme...

Oh this is so charming. I love how Funfair turned out, but I love the coziness of a quiet fishing trip with a pal or two a lot, especially if sexiness occurs~~~

You have no idea how much there is to show! Well okay, maybe now that I said this you have a better idea of how much to expect... But WHAT to expect?~

I've definitely thought of doing a "Where are they now" kind of scenario, but in the end I've felt it's best to leave things in the air with Funfair's ending. That doesn't mean I don't want to explore anything regarding Conker and Banjo's relationship though! I mean, that's part of why this visual novel is happening, ha ha.

Who knows, maybe I won't actually scrap this... Who knows, maybe I haven't shelved the idea yet at all... ;)

GOSH yes this is SO adorable!! Love these sorts of behind the scenes peeks, especially regarding one of my favorite comics of all time!

This early concept makes me want a 1-2 page sequel to Funfair. A little glimpse into Banjo and Conker's "married life." I can picture a sequence of panels of their day-to-day lives with naughtiness sprinkled here and there. For example, one panel would show them fishing on a lake like normal and then the next one would be them screwing their brains out on the boat.
