Another great piece. It seems a lot of these 'alternative finance' providers play on the general population's misunderstanding of how banking works, particularly the maturity transformation process and why the complex risks banks face prohibit all of the lending margins being passed on to depositors (I.e. it costs money to manage all that risk!). Then people would understand better why these crazily high rates are simply not feasible!

I really like the technology, I trust it, but I'm not putting a penny in crypto right now, there are just too many fraudsters... It takes the feds an excruciating long time to act on white collar crime because of how much capital those who've perpetuated said crimes tend to have on hand. Feds want an iron clad case so that their efforts don't go to waste when the offending party pulls out a giant squad of lawyers to find every single possible hole in the fed's arguments.

As someone who is technically an "entrepreneur" (aka, someone with my own business) "fake it til you make it" is how you go bust, not at all how you actually make a functional business. Selling a product that you don't even have the capacity to deliver on is such a crap shoot, and not something you ever do without full disclosure.... So yeah. I think any real entrepreneur that isn't from the Theranos school of Business would actually be far more judgemental about a fake it til you make it sort.

It's not about funding. Our law enforcement gets more money than they could ever use. It's just that they prioritize enforcement actions against people who don't have the money to fight back. We COULD go after white collar criminals; we CHOOSE to buy tanks to go after drug dealers instead.

Excellent as always! Just a comment on Naiveté. Based on the lies told me I saw logic in what Celsius offered. And I was one of the many who ran when it appeared to me that it was all a fabrication! If you want Naiveté merely look at the world-wide banking systems; wait until the Bail-Ins begin! Do you believe your governments and in the case of the U.S. its F.D.I.C. is telling you any truths at all?

Great work! I hope the executives are held accountable for their crimes. I was a little confused about the comment that the CEO would get away with it in a jury trial because he was just trying to "fake it until you make it." I didn't think that sounded like a fair or accurate statement of a legal defense.
