While there are ~73 quintillion combinations of seed words, what "Goblin" is claiming is that he used his bitcoin-mining ASICs to brute force the seed phrase (guess-and-check all combinations) in parallel very quickly. Mining bitcoin amounts to essentially brute-force searching for a nonce value that results in a "correct" SHA-256 hash for the current block. Brute-forcing is what these ASICs do best. The problem is, ASICs can't be reprogramed, so if they were designed for bitcoin mining, there's no way he could have repurposed them for brute-forcing a seed phrase (which would involve generating each unique phrase from a list of valid seed words, using the phrase to derive a private key candidate, then checking that private key against the wallet's known public key to see if it's a match). Just more evidence that this is all a ruse.
