That whole Socrates bit feels like he was setting Riley up to be thought of as a member of Evilus. I can definitely see Socrates stabbing them in the back and framing Riley as one of their members. Be easy to do too, once they come out to protect Riley while he and his friends attack him. That or having someone else attack Riley and then join in against the Evilus members there and frame Riley as a member.

The fact that Riley cultivates to become more human reminds me of I shall seal the heavens where the MC was not willing to become the Immortal and lost his humanity so he became The Demon. Other than that, I personally would really prefer cultivation to be about becoming an immortal rather than a God since in fantasy scenarios being a God is usually the worst option of those that allow power and immortality
