Tinkering! Small crafting Update
🕑 Added 2021-01-30 09:24:44 +0000 UTCHi folks-
Been promising that I'd include Tinkering for a bit now, so wanted to send an update with it included. This is not quite complete, but includes a pretty big chunk of it and brings in a lot more items to make, rounding out the list of adventuring gear.
There's two things I'm still working out with it:
- First of all, the name of it's miscellaneous materials might change. Currently it's called "junk" (with "fancy junk" and "esoteric junk" being the more expensive parts) to refer to "gears, wires, springs, windy bits, screws, nails, and doodads". I find this name amusing, but may change if it I come up a with a better one.
- Second, I need your opinion: should the optional firearm crafting rules fall under blacksmithing or tinkering? Let me know which you prefer!
The next update here will actually not be a new branch, but will be a pretty big reorganization and clean up. The beta document here has gotten too messy, and its hard to find the prices of different materials. I'm going to change the layout a bit to move all the materials into one unified section for easier reference. There will be much more detailed layout in the future, but for now this should help it be more navigable. With that there will be a pass on all the branches unifying materials and updating everything to the latest numbers.
From there, I will probably expand Tinkering, Enchanting, and add Wood and Leatherworking as the next two branches to include.
Hope everyone is doing well, and of course let me know any thoughts or feedback! This will be the last crafting update for this month, but expect it to get quite a few going into next month as this will be probably the biggest focus of my work next month (along with rounding out that Artificer update we saw a preview of and a few new things!)
All the best,
-Kibbles

I did consider "parts". That might the name I end up going with, the name "junk" is just a little bit of a joke as that's what non-tinkerers might see it as :) Wanted something pretty generic but still a little interesting, still puzzling on the best word!

"Pieces and Parts" are what my truck partner and I would call the "junk" cuz ain't nothing junk in a repair job 🤣🤣🤣🤣
