Ya 물고기 Mul-Gogi literally means water - meat or fish. Just like 불고기 Bul-Gogi literally means Fire - Meat or cooked meat.

When Korean called fish, there are 2 kinds of words. 1. 물고기 2. 생선. So, the first one 물고기 is literally 물 + 고기. It's alive. The second one is 생선, it's cooked fish. Similar to English, Cow, and Beef.
