I felt the same way you did, I wanted Ae-sun to hit back just once but i guess she's too respectful for that. Im glad you kinda understood geum-myong. A lot is hating on her because of the way she talked back to Ae-sun, but i kinda understood her too..

back then, in korea men and women used separate tables— only the eldest women could eat with the men, and the men’s tables would also have better food. that’s how the patriarchal culture was back then. there are actually some families who still operate like this during ancestral rites. this is why gwansik turning back was all the more revolutionary and admirable- bc doing that was beyond comprehension for those crazy times
