And the song We are Broken and Let The Flames Begin are definitely religious songs. They all had strong roots in the church while growing up. Hayley had started pulling away from that by the time came to making the album Brand New Eyes. Josh Farro wanted to be a Christian light band, and also hate on the gay community because it’s against his bible. Hayley wasn’t rocking with that, so he left the band and dragged his brother Zac(drummer) with him.

All the live performances of Let the Flames Begin are gas. Sometimes I forget that they were all teenagers when they made this album. They had lineup changes every couple of albums. Zac Farro was the drummer for the first 3 albums, and little brother to Josh Farro the lead guitarist and Hayley’s writing partner. They both left the band after the album cycle for Brand New Eyes, one of their best albums. But Hayley and Josh were really butting heads, and you can tell in a lot of the angry lyrics in BNE. But Zac became friends again with Taylor York(who stepped up from rhythm guitar to lead guitar after Josh) and Hayley. Zac rejoined the band and they made the album After Laughter(2017) they later went on the make This Is Why(2023)

This album changed my life when it first came out. Had 11 year old me in a chokehold. Their first album All We Know is Falling is a must listen, just so you can see how insane Hayley was on that album when she was only 16. To me, it has stood the test of time after 20 years. I was not expecting this, but i'm so glad y'all dove into this masterpiece
