I never thought about David Bowies Jareth being inspiration for Griffith, but dang guys I think you might be right. On another note, David’s cod piece in this film was a sexual awakening for a lot of teenagers back then. Just facts!

Rhetorical Thrill

I LOVE this movie, I have pretty much my whole life. We would rent this every time we went to my granny's house, and I've owned it on VHS, DVD, and Blu Ray. I love that you can see SO MUCH depth in the story, it's a fantastic allegory for growing up, but if you want, it can also just be a fairy tale.

If you think Hoggle is ugly/creepy looking in the movie, you should see what he looks like now! He was left to rot for years after he was found in lost luggage in Scottsboro, Alabama. Someone finally bought him and 'restored' him and is now in the Unclaimed Luggage Museum there. He could only be restored so far...
