Yes I think I've seen that method being used before, but I think that one is better suited for hard surfaces, the only time so far I've used edge tricks to make the normals do what I wanted is when I made the blade for Izumi's katana, by using auto smooth and marked sharp the edge of the blade, which pretty much just split the edge when I exported it but as long as I didn't have to split it while it was in blender form it was fine by me, but since almost everything I do is soft edged well I haven't had many opportunities to use other tricks, if I ever make a stage then that would change, I really want to test specular maps on N3+C or maybe I just should wait for N4+C.

Makes sense. Another method I've used for sharp edges on some parts is to add bevel weights and a bevel modifier (before subdivision) - so essentially the same method, but non-permanent. I sometimes do this when creases + sharp edges look too sharp and I don't want to permanently add extra edge loops.

Yes that is on purpose, creases are indeed much easier to use but I like better the results that support loops give me, mainly because I use this mesh later for map baking and it looks better this way even if it is extra work.

Btw, I noticed that you don't use subdivision creases for sharp corners, is that intentional? I sometimes use your method too and use extra edge loops, because it looks better for semi-sharp corners, but overall feel that creases are easier to work with.

Please don't lol you will die of alcohol poisoning and yes that add-on is a godsend, I found it last year after I finished the maid outfit and it saves a lot of time while trying to shape a mesh I make heavy use of it, now if only that cloth brush for sculpting was already on my hands, oh boy, I am getting spoiled.

I was shouting "set flow!" at my screen every time i saw you started selecting edge loops. One of the best add-ons. I should turn this into a drinking game if you release more timelapses, lol.
