Grits. And The Crew Cocktail Mixer
🕑 Added 2023-06-21 00:08:24 +0000 UTCApologies for the brief silence. We've been going full steam ahead on multiple sizable Lackadaisy projects (more Patron previews incoming), but we took a little time out last week to finally throw a little bash for the crew.
A lot of people flew into L.A. from afar so that we could toast each other in person on a whole lot of hard work, because, hey, we made a thing!
Valentine Stokes (Zib) came all the UK and tried grits for the first time, while Bradley Gareth (Wick) looked on. Hence the stolen facial expressions in the drawings above.

Anyway, Fabrice (the violinist for Rocky) was at the event playing with his band, the pilot was projected large-scale in the courtyard, the drinks were plentiful, and the ambiance of the entire venue was very much in character. Fable, the director, got engaged to their partner Clint, and overall, it was just an overwhelmingly wonderful evening.
Tomb created the Lackadaisy themed drink menu, and even the index of Forbidden Condiments made an appearance. (If you can figure out what the acronym is comprised of, well, you win.)

That sounds... gross, lol, but the boyfriend days it's fine if you add honey or sugar, so I might attempt it. Just, uh... he says it's like rice, only chunkier. That prepares me, but doesn't reassure me, haha.

Frankly, grits are best seen as a vehicle for something else. My preference for "something else" is to put a generous amount of butter on there and salt and pepper. My oldest brother ate his like any other hot cereal, with milk and sugar. My dad liked his with red eye gravy, and then there's the Low Country (SC/LA) classic of shrimp and grits (with red eye gravy). Plain grits are not that tasty.
