Loved this one, as I learned a lot about different versions of tic tac toe. Will definitely try the "ultimate" version! With our kids we also enjoy the kids version "big eat small", where you have figurines instead of x+o in three different sizes, and the bigger ones can "eat" the smaller ones, therefore overwriting your opponents move to some extent. Only the biggest one is final, as it can't be "eaten" by the others. As this brings a lot more options to the game I don't know whether this one can be "solved"? (And would have no idea myself how to figure this out anyway - maybe some python code by Matt would help? ;-) )

I’m surprised Ben Orlin didn’t get a mention. His book Maths Games with Bad Drawings is excellent. It contains Ultimate Tic Tac Toe and many other interesting pen and paper games https://mathgameswithbaddrawings.com/buy-the-book

Always loved this variant, so much more strategy involved than the basic game.
