I absolutely love the organic chemistry video's. They are by far my favourite and for me the most attainable to do at home with my setup. Keep up the amazing work, I look forward to seeing what you have in store

Nile Red

I am glad you liked it!

It depends what you are filtering. It is a balance between getting something fine but still passes liquid easily. I think a 3 rating is the pretty typical one. Blocks larger particles but doesnt take forever to filter liquid

Love the agar plate test! Semi-related question. How do you choose pore size when buying fritted glass filters? I want to start using them but no idea what the numbers actually mean.

This + the soap one have been some of my favourite. cant emphasize how excited i am for sulfa drugs :)

Nile Red

I think it is a problem with my settings. I am re-rendering it now and hopefully itll be fixed.

I see a bunch of flashing around the 10:00 minute mark, in the shot of the crystals on the dish. Just that one shot as far as I can tell.

Nile Red

oh crap, I forgot to add that part

Patrick Sweetman

Nice. We saw the whole synthesis and purification. You could have mentioned the scent of the product.

Nile Red

Im glad you appreciate it!

Nile Red

What flashing are you talking about?

Cool shit! The tests to show properties and or purity you do at the end really add to the videos :)

Also, is all the flashing in the video intentional or not?

Silviu T

Oh, _that_ chlorobutanol. There are many chlorobutanols, but the particular one you're referring to is 1,1,1-trichloro-tert-butanol. OK, yeah that one's easier to synthesize than others. Good move getting away from the soap line for now.
