Frieren does have a lot of similarities to Violet Evergarden in that she struggles to understand relationships, people’s emotions and her own feelings towards them. However, unlike Violet, Frieren does have a keen sense of her own true nature. Violet was dehumanized and cut off from empathy while Frieren knows who she is as a person and can empathize with others. Frieren: Do you like magic? Fern: Somewhat. Frieren (smiles): just like me, then. Adam has some great instincts with this episode.

You guys released this when I was spending a few days in the countryside with no internet... I was tempted to watch it on my phone (I can't watch or read anything on the phone, it's too small for me). But I'm glad I waited, I love this show for its little life lessons, even in a fantasy world and all... you can relate so much, especially as you mature. And yes, patience is one of the things you learn by watching Frieren. Also, don't trust trunks (I learnt this from Terry Pratchett, Frieren just confirmed it)

oh wow, I'm surprised that Himmel died the first episode. I don't know much about the story, I tried to avoid information about it as much as possible so that I wouldn't be spoiled when watching the show. But from the very little I knew about the show (Himmel being a loved character and Frieren being a being that lives longer than humans), I was kind of imagining that Frieren was a very young elf and Himmel was her first love. I thought the story was something like that and that she had to deal with his absence throughout her life, or something like that. *Evangelion vague spoiler ahead* This feels like when I watched Neon Genesis Evangelion for the first time and finally got to meet Kaworu's character after seeing him literally everywhere throughout my life. LOL I was like, wait that was it???? Why is he so popular? Though maybe we'll get to see more of him in flashbacks. (please dont confirm or deny!)

Also the first 4 episode of this is supposed to be watched together normally because it premiered as a sort of movie where 4 episode is released together (it's also fine watching it normally 1 by 1), and thus the goal of the story will be revealed at episode 4, so it will be a bit slow for the first 4 episode.
