POD 77: A fireside chat with Amanda Feilding about LSD and trepanation
🕑 Added 2023-06-01 05:48:49 +0000 UTCThis is the first of a series of Amanda Feilding interviews I hope to release in the coming months. We discuss her self-trepanation, LSD research, and her film "Heartbeat in the Brain." I will upload video of the interview shortly.

Hamilton, you usually provide references or links beyond the actual interview but did not for this one. I can understand why, given that trepanation is not your specialty, not particularly thoroughly researched, and maybe something you don't actually have any additional resources on. However, I found myself surprisingly curious about trepanation after this interview, mainly because Amanda makes so many claims about its history that I can't help but feel curious to learn more. Is there anywhere where I can learn more about trepanation from a credible source?
Thank you! I have a condition where my intracranial pressure is very high and I get migraines all the time. I fantasize about being trepanned. Blood and CSF dynamics in the brain are so cool.

Did the video ever get uploaded?

Loved the opening. Something I think often. "I took just the right amount of LSD" π

Thanks for pointing this out, some accidentally got cut off during the export. It has been added back to the interview and remained in the video version.

I also usually listen in the car however I always go back and watch the video when I re listen later while I make food or something. So yeah if you make more videos that would be sick and appreciated
Amazing podcast, it ends quite suddenly halfway though a statement. Was that intentional or accidental?

Thanks Hamilton, Iβd love to be trepanned!

The video has been added in a separate post.

I'm a bit nervous to listen to this one as trepanation tends to make me quite queasy, but I'm curious enough to press play regardless. It might make me barf but holy shit it's interesting.

P.S. I didn't receive an email alert about this interview. I just happened to notice it when listening to the Q&A for May. Not sure if that was intended or not. Just an FYI.

I love video. Sometimes I just want to see what the interviewee looks like (is that weird?). With that said, your actual interview is MUCH more important to me. Therefore, if it affects you're ability to do interviews, don't worry about the video. But if you have the time and don't mind....
Yes yes yes, this is very good!
