Thanks for the feedback! My intention here with Vin growing angry was because he is experiencing a rather severe medical emergency (him and his friends are all dying, and pretty quickly at that), and Xaril flat out just doesn't care (even going so far as to seem annoyed at them for using the sick bay how it was intended). For Alka, I was aiming to show the guilt building up within her as she is forced to watch the only friends she's ever really had rapidly die just because they were trying to help her (they only went through the radiation filled fragment instead of doubling back and picking a safer one because they were afraid of losing the divine warrior's trail). Those were my intentions, but I may go back and try and tweak a few lines here and there later on to see if that helps things come across better!

I find it hard to understand why Vin & Alka grew angry at Xaril. `````Before Xaril could utter another word, Malzer rushed out the door, slamming it shut behind him. Sighing, the older infernal clicked his tongue, turning to look at Vin’s group. Like Agnes, his eyes lingered on Shia for a few seconds before he focused on Vin. “Well, let’s start with the obvious. Can you understand me?” “Yeah,” Vin nodded, wondering what the heck was going on. “Are you a healer?” “No, the sick bay is just the quietest place in the house to read. People rarely ever barge in here.” Vin stared at the unmoving infernal, unable to believe what he was hearing. As the seconds slowly ticked by, and Xaril merely looked at him impassively, he came to the startling realization that the older infernal was waiting for an apology from him of all things.````` This is the instance that kicked off the animosity, and should (i believe) highlight my failure to understand. How is it hard to believe that a sick bay is the quietest place to read? Vin had already noted that Xaril looked like a stereotypical scholar, and was reading a book. If it's related to having an altered mindset while under the influence of radiation poisoning and stress, I could see it as slightly more understandable. If that's the case, then we have no clear understanding of Vin's mindset at this point in the story, as it hasn't really been described to us in relation to the poisoning/stress. If Vin's animosity is related to the tone or posture of Xaril, it could also be slightly understandable. Unfortunately, said tone/posture have not been relayed to us, besides a quick click of the tongue. In the end, I think it comes down to the information relayed to the readers. I also had a hard time understanding why Alka was so depressed during/after the rock elemental encounter. I won't try to tell you how to write or frame your characters.. definitely not my place.. do what you think best ;) I'm just a casual reader who enjoys giving the occasional bits of feedback. I'll be here on Patreon reading for as long as I find entertainment, as in the end, I'm a consumer :P
