Music and its implementation
🕑 Added 2025-01-16 10:50:56 +0000 UTCHi, quick update on what's currently cooking. Me and my lovely basement dwellers have been hard at work to make the music implementation work, all according to the last vote on Patreon about the importance of music in the game. The amazing Nyx has provided us with plenty of songs to use and our current task is to put them in. If you want to listen in to them, here are the current playlist:

As for the concept I have envisioned currently:
We have songs with custom lyrics that describe the scene or add to it, yet I had a hard time focusing on both the written words and the song's lyrics. So my new idea was to create a cover image for each story-relevant song that would be displayed while the song is playing (example of cover images above). The screen would have the cover image, song title, progress bar for the song's length and a skip button for those not interested in the music at all. It would look somehow like this then (plus the Skip button, screenshot from old code):
Apart from the lyrical pieces we have a ton of ambient music that should fit the scenes and mood there. If in future playthroughs anyone notices a song playing in a scene where it doesn't belong, please reach out to my team (song implementation is getting rushed a bit currently, cause I really wanna get back to making new content quickly😅)
I expect to have to music done till the public update and then I can focus fully on the next update. Still, finally fulfilling the promise of adding music (which was made half a year ago) feels really good 😁.

You're missing out then 😅 As it currently is coded, the image will still show, just without music. Changing it would be easy, but the images are linked to the music function, so the image wouldn't show otherwise and players would miss out a nice full screen image then

I hope those music images don't pop up if music is turned off? I always shut game music off 🤷🏻♂️
