Early February Status Update

been a while since my last post, so let me give you all a little peak behind the scenes of what's currently happening.
While I originally thought I could publish the Update 6.1 at the end of January, this was a very optimistic estimate. The complexity of Update 6 with its bugs and the Sound implementation kept me busy a long while after the release, so development of update 6.1 only started in earnest after the public release.
Writing: The writing is like 90% done and only needs adjustments in a few places. Whole writing somehow ended up at 2k lines, so a bit bigger as I indented back then, but I think it's necessary to make Xici's redemption arc believable and not feel like a forced plot device.
Art: We have some pretty cool images already, but we need a few more (for example, the third image shown above uses placeholders yet). Well, that and I have to finalize Gina's level 6 set too.
Coding: Turns out, doing the code for a Phoenix Wright style of gameplay from scratch is NOT as easy as it looked first. While the code isn't necessarily complicated, it is still tedious to write to its needed length. What was originally intended to be a short interlude, has somehow turned into something bigger AGAIN. You all know how things get out of hand with me regularly😅 Good thing is that the code is almost finished and I started building the scenes yesterday.
While this small update takes a lot longer than I expected, the good news is, that a large part of my team has already started creating a lot of material we then need for update 7 (next next big one, comparable to Update 6). Many scenes are written, Jade's Lvl5 set is finished, Stella Lvl6 has some tasty pieces already.. so stuff like that happening, while I finish up the court scenes😁

That was the goal :D Trying some different from classical story telling and making the finale of the redemption arc more interactive.

To be utterly sure you're safe, I recommend making a save on the world map or gym task selection screen, and to make saving on those screens in particular a habit. There's an issue(?) with renpy where if the line of dialogue displayed on the screen is altered in a game version update, the save cannot be loaded. Combine with constant spell check and grammar passes and random spots will be non-loadable, regretfully. But those two screens in particular are far more likely than others to remain safe places to save your game for save compatibility with future versions of the game.

Thank for the update, though shamefully I still didn't find the time to play the Update 6. Really appreciate the passion all the team pours on the game, please take care of yourselves too, I'm fine with waiting if it is for the sake of you not crunching.

Save games should be safe to use. Also since this is a pure story update, a skip would be very easy to make just in case.
