Given how Syl has been destroying his own magic skills over and over again, I wonder if they could give it to personalities and regain them afterwards.

If Vanessa doesn't eventually suspect Sylvain as a persona even after seeing that Syl is both a shapeshifter and wants this highly specific skill related to personas she must be really stupid. Well, I guess we knew that already... I kinda want a Vanessa "horror movie" POV chapter where she gradually begins to suspect Sylvain has been replaced, ending with her going insane as he dissolves into a puddle of goo before her eyes.

"this comes at the cost of degraded performance of skills still held solely by yourself" Clarification needed: Who's skill's performance is degraded? the main body's? or a persona's when using the main body's skill? Either way it's perfect for Syl since she has skill deconstruct. She can repeatedly deconstruct and relearn a skill until she learns to cast it with pure magic, then sacrifice the skill to a persona to remove any performance degradation without losing it as an ability.

Thank you for the chapters!

I think there's a penalty both ways so syl can use skills owned only by there personas but at a reduced level determined by the skill level if split personalities.
jonathan
kinda funny.... The whole point of the role play skill was so that syl could gain more capabilities... this skill, while adding some capabilities, is more of a trade off than anything... literally kinda creating people who are independent of you until destroyed...
Roombot
So can the personas only use skills that theyâve developed or had sacrificed to them? And does Syl benefit at all from their usage of skills? With the description of the skill sacrifice mechanic, it seems like thereâs no overlap between Sylâs skills and the skills of the personas, so is there any benefit at all?
Shiloh Gallaher
Behold the new ultra powerfull skill. Having children.
Le Someperson
What the heck is that? I dunno what to think about that.
Ben Bailey
Terrible idea!
mmarkgraf212
Since Syl is going the way of creating her own race essentially, I think it would be funny if the world voice announced a new race was born to everyone, but left off any information or name on what that race was, since essentially they can be anything.
Disclancer
I really hate this split personality idea, it's nothing but downsides. I really don't see the point, I'm kinda worried actually, I find the idea of a quirky Syl collective of essentially separate individuals so off-putting I'm actually struggling to verbalise it.
Roombot
Why couldnât they rebel? Sure theyâll know they shouldnât destroy Syl, but who says they couldnât find a way to take over the collective and lock Syl away somehow? The warning at the end hints that Syl may lose control of the skill and be unable to deactivate a persona if they refuse to go quietly.
Quinton Thornes
This also a way for Syl to deal with her massive skill bloat. She can off load skill sets to specific personas. Syl has an problem of juggling too many abilities to regularly use and level them all, let alone use them tactically.
Roombot
This is dangerous AF. Syl had better be EXTREMELY careful to ensure that loyalty to herself is the absolute core of every persona she creates
Vik M.
More like creating a mind. Most creatures don't have the ability to have multiple physical manifestations at once the way Syl does.
denver boyer
Nice! This also lets syl create boss monsters for the dungeon if he gets it high enough.
Summer Coff
...isn't this just creating life?
Peter Smith
I think its an ability that when fused with core collective and maybe a couple other abilities will allow for the personalities to slightly bleed at will. For most people split personality would be a terrible play, but more importantly than anything else they would all still remember that they are Syl.
Icharris
I donât see how this ability is any powerup. She goes from having X cores that can use all skills, to splitting skills up to all the cores? Seems like a huge drop. Is that advantage each personality can have its own class/professions? I still fail to see how this benefits Syl if the abilities the splits acquire donât feedback to the main core.
Lionheart Copperhead
A bunch of people are talking about the split personalities rebelling against Syl, but that is frankly ridiculous because the split personality would know it's not the original and can't exist without the original, therefore would have no reason to go against the original. Syl would basically have a bunch of versions of themselves doing their own things but ultimately they exist as slime cores part of a greater collective and basically loyal minions for Syl. For example Sylvain is just Alpha pretending to be mind controlled but is really a slime with a convincing persona: the aspect of someone's character that is presented to or perceived by others. Notice the use of persona in the skill description, meaning Syl is basically changing the sub cores from an automated actor to an actual sentient personality that has a persona: mask of identity, the public image of one's personality. TLDR; The splits can't and will not rebel, and exist to pilot a persona (look up definition of persona).
enderman
I think that the skill has more merit than detriments. There are more than enough fail safes in case of betrayal. 1). the core are still cores so they will revive infinitely as long as Syl lives 2). If Syl dies they are created from Sylâs skill so they will dye. 3). Even if one of them betrays Syl she can turn off the personality and have it be a regular core 4). If all of them decide to betray Syl she can [Skill Deconstruct] it and try again but with more control over it.
Engineer4God
Tank oo fur da chap!
enderman
Not to mention that the main downside of lower skill proficiency that the personaâs have are mute if you use skill deconstruct and the personaâs use the result.
enderman
This would be transforming from an individual to a hive mind. Honestly I have read a few hive mind stories and the hive mind stays unified so I donât think itâs as bad as the rest of the comment section makes it out to be.

I truly don't understand the hate. She tried to force Syl to love her as her race compels her to. Syl, on the other hand, toyed with her heart by pretending to love her, and then destroyed her entire civilization.

Oh here we go again. Split personality .
Aclys
well well... in theory this means Syl could create a persona, have it earn classes and skills... and then spend points to deduce things for main-syl and such?
Touch
When they joined the network, it might be possible to share the skills, but potential for betrayal is crazyyy
Quinton Ginger
Yeah I really hope they donât let the mind rapist live.
Chloe Root
Vee spends her points more whimsically than Syl, so she's more of a spendthrift.
Kendaar
I know this is most probably never going to happen in the story but this skill could result in a clone uprising. Especially with Vanessa considering how Alpha fell into her control to follow role-play with syl restraining the core. So alpha could technically be turned on syl. But at the end of the day I dont think this skill suits syl, using this syl would create countless clones/doubles/children which follows in line with the queen evolutions which they dont like. Looking at it, it seems the skills can't be reintegrated, i thought syl was looking for additional bodies to grind skills, if syl loses skills and then has no control over the new personality it's just a all around downgrade.
Nemesis
I'm honestly interested in finding out what this will mean for Syl's elven adventurer persona if she gives a split to the Feirelle's. Will she just ignore the duplication since elves rarely interact with humans? Will they suddenly announce that Sylthaerin had a twin sister they hid from the world? Or will Syl maybe make herself a look-a-like with some slightly different features like she was planning before back when Loreleia had asked her to abandon the guise of her daughter.
Malphir
Unless relearning them falls under 'such offerings cannot be reclaimed, transferred, or restored'. If Syl's able to relearn the skills, it's viable, but if it locks out that option, this is a terrible choice. Syl would basically gimp themselves forever to create a new person that will grow to have their own priorities that might see them going a different route from Syl.

Those are some hefty costs, but this is amazing.
Quyan640
Definitely shouldnât do this since the personalities Syl created arenât entirely loyal to herself, especially the literally charmed water and wind mage one. Edit: I think a better idea is to somehow incorporate the skill into slime core collection trait/skill to ensure loyalty.
Quyan640
Yeah, the only way I can see this being resolved if the skill is uncapped again, removing the downsides and separation. Allowing all personality to share their full skills.
Michael Zinkstein
Thanks for the chapter
Kennyevilmonkey
Potentially losing skills permanently. But... with skill deconstruct she doesnât even need the skills for herself anymore. She can just make her own magic and leave the skills to her alts.
Nemesis
I believe there is a typo when Syl called Vee more of a spendthrift with her points than Syl. It should surely be 'less of a spendthrift'
That one with the boobs
plural syl REAL
Kenneth Welever
Well that's ominous as fuck.
Hayden Leech
Really donât like it. Syl is diminishing herself for a gimmick. Splitting her skills up? Creating people that wonât want to die when itâs time to reintegrate? Hmm. Playing with fire Syl.
Hayden Leech
This is a bad fucking idea. Oh so much can go wrong. âwith its own mannerisms, priorities, and sense of self. â Would syltharyn be loyal to the elves and her family? Can her aspects be manipulated into betraying Syls secrets? Nopity nope nope nope. Syl should not do this⊠sigh. Atleast the rogue sub core arc will be interesting.
Napalm078
'If Alpha, I mean, Sylvain can reform her, then maybe this will be worth it.' Heh 'Their reactions to the revelation were mixed; all of my [Sub-Core] personas expressed visible disgust at the idea, no doubt born of my deepest, ingrained feelings.' >:) 'Fragment your fabricated identities from yourself, allowing them to exist as independent personas rather than mere performances.' Oh? 'When creating a personality, you may sacrifice skills, binding them permanently to the new identity.' YOOOOO This is sick Thank you for the chapter :D
I Is Patron
It says nothing about traits... So the clones will still have all their Slime powers. Syl will just give up her magic skills and relearn them easily. This is perfect for her.
X
Seems like sacrificing skills is an optional boost not a requirement. Personalities can develop skills (including ones syl already has) and they can borrow skills from syl at a cost/level/effectiveness penalty. Skill sacrifice could be good if you have skill conflicts of some kind like [Mana Weaving] and [Mana Shaping?] Syl could shunt the less preferred one onto a personality and keep the other.

I think, Vanessa is somehow feeling or figure out that Sylvan is not truly real but looking other way as long as she is with him in one shape or form
matt
And so Syl gives them their skills and immediately rebuilds them from scratch, bypassing that entirely. That warning at the end is definitely way more prudent than she'll think. Be wary of becoming the mask. "He wears a mask, and his face grows to fit it." - George Orwell

Well thats terrifying

Does this mean that all of Sylâs sub-cores can get their own personality and skills by training even if Syl doesnât sacrifice any of the skills she has?
