I love Ivan Bunin’s short “The Caucasus” 💘

Klim Kazantsev

Because anytime the misbehavior of Jews is brought up anywhere - they all immediately get the though patrol to start hammering "antisemitism" as hard as possible, because God forbid the fact that they're no as nice and innocent as they would like the world to believe.

Nikola Milinovic

I don't know how I didn't remember these songs before. I like russian trad songs and those with historical topic. You guys spoke about how Caucasus was romaticized by Russian artists and how Cossak settlers adopted the clothing style of the locals of Caucasus. The first song is about young soldier dying in Dagestan and the second depicts Kuban' Cossacs dressed as Turks or Kurds. https://youtu.be/Zj568WcVj00?si=2bQoXl2QM14ax_wP https://youtu.be/POsfVhKueKc?si=SIxZr18DCjF5GK0d I'm no expert by any means but I like songs from channel Век and that Юрий Щербаков sings.

That heads on pikes thing, I read about a surrender of an Irish Lord to a English army during the late 16th century, the Irish Lord was forced to approach the camp via an avenue of his soldiers heads on pikes.

I thought when it came to the pogroms it also had to do with census gathering of the region and all the Jews subverting taxation and the citizens also being pissed about that?

agnieszka gill

The detour into pogroms was intriguing... which in the US is equivalent to famous musical "Fidler on the roof". I always thought it odd that sheltered and peaceful Jews became terrorists gangs the moment they stepped off the ships in Palestine.

Even if you share critical opinions about Turks or Turkic peoples, I won’t unsubscribe. As a fellow historian and anthropologist, I value and respect different perspectives on history. While we all strive to approach history with objectivity, it's natural for some bias to slip through, that’s just human. I come here specifically to gain a Russian perspective, and I wouldn’t want any podcaster to simply cater to what they think the audience wants to hear. This podcast is excellent- keep up the great work! Rock on! Even with pogroms- or not lol. By the way, if it were me I would and brought up the Kipchak horse masters to compare them too or parallel them with, rather than American cowboys... But that's just me lol.

Nikola Milinovic

Please do a series about pogroms. I'd love to know more on that topic😍

Savagery is not exclusive to any one group. Every group of people has history of extreme violence and genocide. 30 years war for example.

I don’t understand why Kirill is so scared of getting cancelled by the jews. Surely being pro SMO and pro Russia is grounds for complete and total cancellation. Is Kirill scared of the Jewish lobby???

spetsnaz

It makes sense that insular and in-group preferring communities like the jews would be perfect breeding ground for socialist agitations. It would be good if Kirill could elaborate on the history of pogroms and answer 1) was it that socialist ideas were taken on by the jews or that somehow tsarist Russia Judaism actually is responsible for development of socialist revolutionary ideas 2) what exactly happened to the jews in early CCCP, did they maintain their insular ways or did communism successfully convert them into standard soviet men?

spetsnaz

Hahaha 🤣

Andrew Martiniuc

I know right? These guys way too capable and diligent to be hassled.

Andrew Martiniuc

Based Kirill. Am I dumb to ask, but seems like Russians are way too tolerant while her enemies, most vile.

Thanks for the episode! I’m really curious to learn about the link between the insurgents and organised crime in the next episode. I know there was a pushback by the Ismailovo gang, which consisted mostly of ex-paratroopers. Does that mean that the Ismailovo gang indirectly aided the Russian war effort in Chechnya?

Rasmus

Ohh! Been looking forward to this! Thanks guys!😊

Russians With Attitude

All objectives of the Podcast Operation are going to be finalized. All of them.

Auston Mills

Great work guys. Many a series started, never a series finished..

Russians With Attitude

I will answer in the next ep.

spetsnaz

Nikolay, what is your serious 🧐 prediction for Chechnya after Putin? Will it rebel again? Will the new president order Kadyrov dead? Will Putin ever try to “normalise” Chechnya by ordering mass arrests and disappearances of local mafia and Kadyrov people in order not to leave a legacy of instability for the next president? It seems that the status quo can’t be a stable equilibrium post Putin.

Garry H

Thank you after suggesting you should make an episode on the Russia/Chechnya war finally!! Thank you Nikolay and Kirill for your hardwork and efforts!!..
