1. Britain is a vassal state. They are doing these threats under Washingtons orders. Most of the money from the mineral deal the UK did with ukraine will end up in the US somehow. The US using it to diversify its income locations. 2. They are telling the UK and Europe to threaten Russia, so putin won't try and take more territory, while the US works out a peace deal. Making them look good on the public stage. Giving them a stronger position to negotiate from, and the excuse to pull out from the peace deal if need be.
