I see a lot of colleges but I'm personally for the protected land of tribes. A place were many different species can go to visit or live so they won't forget their heritage. It can serve the same purpose as the college for the wide range of different characters that can come about but I just personally like the atmosphere a lot better. There's so many audios with a college/highschool setting. Mix it up a bit.

Kind of weird but my mind settles on a tea house. It’s basically the less rowdy equivalent of a bar and can be a social center with travelers and locals. It actually would be a pretty decent vehicle for both recurring characters and one offs.

Not really sure, but a college would be a good place to include since it can be a place that draws in all kinds of different characters from different backgrounds, gives them a reason to leave through graduation or transferring or any number of things when it's time to retire them, or is just a good excuse to bring new people in

what about a door in the middle of a forest or an island that is a bit like Narnia where women coming from the other side come to visit the listener (us as one character) becoming the main protagonist and those character can be from anywhere opening to create them as much as you want and from anywhere you want including space alien, monster or fantasy world. I know it isn't really what you are asking but I'm just shouting it in case you might be interested or other listeners might be

It might be hard to add to a map, but what about another planet? An alien girl would be new and she could be visiting earth to study the wildlife or something
