If you saw my original plan for the first "Book" you would have seen it was originally 15 chapters... instead it ended up being almost 30. So it won't surprise you that the character that we explore in this chapter wasn't originally in my plans. It started out as an innocuous name suggestion from a Patron and that piqued my interest and made me think more about her. Now she's here and she'll feature in at least two more chapters most likely. Hope you like finding out more about Tennille. I enjoyed writing her

Louise worked very hard over the weekend to earn back my affection. It’s not like I withheld it but it was a fun game to play for the family. Tennille called out from down the hall, “It’s just me, bitch!” Louise smiled at me and winked, “And who are you calling a slut, you’re the one fucking a married… man?” the last word died in her throat as she walked out and saw Louise and I smiling at her. “Shit… why are you always doing that to me?”
Louise ignored the question and took a playful hop and skip forward, grabbing her roommate’s unresisting hands. “I think you should sit down and talk to Jay. Get to know him, Tennille. It would mean a lot to me. Please?” she said, making a pleading face.
Tennille looked trapped and nervous. “You guys have a whole complicated thing going on, I wouldn’t…”
“That’s just it though. It’s not that complicated. It’s actually pretty simple, really. Jay can have as many women as he wants. Period. Some are casual. Some are serious. But none of us get jealous. Please… just talk to him. He’s a great guy and I really think you should… you know… get to know him,” she said with all the subtlety of a battleship.
I walked up, “Let’s just talk Tennille, okay. I’ll probably be here a fair amount so we should at least try to be friends, right?”
“And what’s your wife think of this?”
“It was their idea!” I said, sitting on the couch.
“They? You have two wives?”
“Well, legally only one but I think of both of them as my wives. I love them equally and they love the idea of me having other women.”
“Uhhuh…,” Tennille said. She folded her arms across her chest, inadvertently lifting up her small boobs that strained against the thin white t-shirt she was wearing.
“Truly… want to talk to them?” I said, offering my phone.
“No… I believe you. I’ve heard about it all from Louise already. Look… I’m just not looking for anything serious, right now, okay?”

“Besides, I’ve got this party to get ready for tonight and the guy that was supposed to take me ditched and…,” only too late did she realize the opening she was leaving herself.
“Perfect,” Louise said, clapping her hands together, “Mr. S can take you. He’ll be a perfect gentleman and keep you completely safe. Right, Mr. S?”
“Absolutely… nothing happens that you don’t want and if that’s nothing then fine. I haven’t been to a college party in a long time. It could be fun.”
“Well… I mean… it’s a costume party and you don’t have a costume.”
“What are you going as?” Louise asked.
Tennille looked at her, “Jane… from Tarzan and Jane,” she clarified when we showed confusion.
“Slutty Jane?” Tennille asked with a knowing grin.
Tennille stood up straight and haughtily defended herself, “SEXY Jane!”
“Okay… well that’s easy… He’s already wearing some brown pants… if he goes shirtless and we kind of muss up his hair,” she said as she tousled my hair with her delicate fingers. “Now just buy a pair of flip flops on your way,” she said, as she pulled my shirt off over my head. As I’ve said before, I’m not super ripped or anything but I take care of myself. Tennille bit her lip as she looked at me and took in a little breath. She hid it quickly but Louise and I both noticed, “He’s sexy isn’t he?”
“He’s not bad,” Tennille said unconvincingly.
“Uhhuh… well you have all the fun with him you want tonight. No blowback from me or anyone else.”
“I’m not going to sleep with your married boyfriend on the first date,” Tennille said.
“So… second date then? Is that when slutty Jane will sleep with my married boyfriend?” Louise teased. Tennille humphed and walked off in exasperation.
“Make sure you’re ready in 15!” Tennille called from the bedroom.

“She’s just wanting someone to go with her and keep her safe.”

“The date hasn’t happened yet,” I said with a smile.
Louise folded her hands across her chest and gave an exaggerated pout. “Mr. S… you’re so mean.”

She rolled her eyes, doubtless annoyed at what she saw as me being overprotective. Nevertheless, she gave it some thought, “I’ll say something about swinging on a vine if I need you, okay?”
I nodded and let the girls put the finishing touches on my makeshift costume. We headed out around 8 o’clock, walking across campus to the apartment that the party was at. I had honestly expected something a little crazier. When I was in college there would have been 60 people crammed into a tiny little apartment. This couldn’t have been more than 50. “Okay… well I found a friend of Louise’s that I’m talking to so I’ll be here a little longer if you need me,” I lied.
“Who?”
I grabbed the guy making the rum and coke and said, “Timmy here. Right man?” I shook his shoulder, causing his Mr. Peanut top hat to fall off.
“Uh… yeah… me and Louise go way back,” he said, covering quickly for me. I gave him a thankful grin as he jauntily returned his top hat to its upright position.
“Whatever, thanks for being my Tarzan for the night,” she said and walked away.
“What was that man?” the kid asked.
“I just didn’t like the look of those two she’s talking to. Wanted to keep an eye on her a little longer.”
“Oh yeah… they’re assholes,” he said. “By the way, it’s Eezee by the way.”
“Easy?” I asked, confused.
“Eezee… Short for Ezra… I like Eezee better though,” he said.
“Yeah… Ezra’s kind of an old man’s name, I guess,” I said with a smile.
“Yeah… I’m already on the AARP mailing list,” he said and laughed.
I talked to Eezee for awhile. I found out his dad had wanted him to go into divinity but he’d wanted to study evolutionary biology. They’d compromised and were sending him to school for medicine. Eezee seemed remarkably sanguine about it but struck me as a genuinely good kid. “How come you’re not trying to get hooked up?” I asked him at one point. “Lots of options here.”
He shrugged, “There’s a girl back home I’m interested in,” he said, looking out at the dance floor. I followed his gaze and saw some stacked blonde in a nurse’s costume bending over.
“Her?” I asked.
“Huh? Uhhmm… no… just… well she’s got a great ass which kinda reminded me of… you know.”
I laughed and patted him on the shoulder, “You’re a good kid Eezee.” He smiled, I think just thankful to have a semi-sober person to talk to while he manned the booze.
We kept talking for about half an hour and I’d pretty much decided to leave when Eezee smacked my shoulder hard, “What the hell?” I asked, confused.
“That girl you came with… pretty sure one of those guys slipped something in her drink,” he said, pointing over my shoulder to where Tennille and one of the guys were standing. The guy saw Eezee gesture and shot him a dark look. That was enough for me.
I walked over to Tennille just as she was about to take a sip of her beer. I grabbed her wrist and she looked up at me, “Hey, what’s your deal?”
“I think your ‘good’ friend here slipped a little pharmaceutical fun in your drink,” I said, looking the guy right in the eye. He was about an inch taller than me but a skinny little runt.
“What? He wouldn’t do that,” she said, turning to the young man.
He tried to defend himself, “What? Everyone does it, baby. You were gonna sleep with me anyways.” Eezee was standing over my shoulder as we both watched this moron try to justify what he’d done, “Besides, if that fucking pussy hadn’t ratted me out you’d already be halfway to happy.” He jammed his finger over my shoulder, pointing at Eezee.
Tennille just looked back and forth and said quietly, “I want to say something clever about Tarzan but I can’t so… you know… swing on a rope or something.”
I wrapped my hand around her waist and held her to me, “I think the lady would like to leave now.”
“Lady? This fucking cunt? She wanted the D,” he said, grabbing his crotch. “She wanted to go to pound town,” he said loudly to the room in general. “Bitch was practically giving it away.” I pulled Tennille behind me, keeping the increasingly aggressive man from lashing out at her. You think you’re better than everyone just cause you give out some free beer? Fuck you,” he said and lunged at Eezee. It was like time froze for a second. His whole body was in profile to me with his outstretched arm reaching for Eezee’s face. Eezee was recoiling and already starting to fall backwards. A single, stationary moment. My reflexes kicked in and I stuck my foot out, tripping him forward and returning time to its normal rush. “What the fuck man. This is between me and Eezee you dick,” he said, getting back to his feet.
I could tell he wasn’t going to stop. I heard Tennille whisper behind me, “Don’t fight him. I’m not worth it,” but I ignored her since the guy wasn’t going to stop coming. He reached out, scraping my face with his outstretched fingers. Of all the thoughts you’d think would run through my head, the one that did flit through in that moment was, “Damn… I wish Roland was here.” While that thought went through my brain, I was also wildly swinging. My fist connected with his stomach making a crunch. He dropped down, gasping for air, and Eezee and another guy instantly grabbed his arms and hauled him to the door.
I turned to Tennille who was shaking behind me, “You okay?”
She just nodded and pressed herself into me. “Can we leave?” she said quietly. Everyone around us was already going back to their party. A drunk getting into a fight wasn’t exactly unusual, I guess. We walked to the door, wary of leaving right away lest the would-be rapist was waiting outside for us. Eezee came back inside a couple minutes later and gave me the all-clear.
“We handed him off to campus police,” he said.
“Thanks Eezee,” I said, offering him my hand.
He shook it firmly, “No man… thank you. He was gonna tear my face off.”
I walked Tennille out into the warm night and towards her dorm. About halfway there she seemed to gain some confidence back and gently shrugged my arm from around her shoulder but took my hand softly instead. “Can we go somewhere else. Get something to eat maybe?” she said softly.
“Sure. That would be fine,” I said. We walked in silence for a bit, her hand clutching mine tightly. I think the night’s events really shook her up. There was a Steak N’ Shake just off campus. Great shakes. Great fries. Pretty good burgers. Nice comfort food given what had transpired.
As we sat with our food, Tennille wrapped her lips around the milkshake straw, taking in a sip and sighing as the cool, sugary liquid hit her mouth. “I don’t normally like sweet stuff but this tastes really good, right now,” she said quietly before taking another sip. She looked up at me through her eyelids and I smiled, “What?”
“You’re very pretty, Tennille,” I said earnestly.
She blushed and took another sip, “No... I’m not.”
Now some girls when they say that are fishing for compliments. They want you to tell them how hot they are. To up your compliment game. But something about how she inflected the words struck me. “Smart, kind… pretty,” I said, gesturing at her again. She shooed my hand away playfully as I continued. “Playful and open minded helps.”
“Slutty?” she asked with a quiet whisper.
I nodded and smiled, “It doesn’t hurt.”
“What else? What do all your women have in common, Jay?”
I swallowed and then gestured with my finger to lean forward. She did, and I lowered my mouth to her ear and very quietly whispered, “They’re submissive.” She blushed again then a little shiver went up her spine.
“You’re very interesting, Mr. Simpson,” she said.
“Tell me about yourself, Tennille. Are you from here?”
“Born and raised,” she grinned.
“On the playground is where you spent most of your days?” I joked. She looked at me blankly and I rushed to clarify, “You know… from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air?”
“Wasn’t that what Will Smith got famous for?” she asked.

“That was mean,” I said but grinned back.
“Well, I’m either dumb and nice or smart and mean… which do you want?” she said.
“What about the other two?”
“I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she said with a wry smirk. “But yes, I did play on playgrounds a lot. Went to school here. Then came to the U. I want to major in early childhood education… I know that’s cliche but I actually want to study it not teach it. To learn what makes kids tick and how to help them learn better.”
“That’s really neat. And very altruistic. It also would indicate that you’re both smart AND kind,” I said, stroking her hand with my fingers.
She looked up at me, seemed to say something then shut her mouth again. “You don’t have to keep trying. I’m going to fuck you tonight.”
I placed my hand firmly on hers and looked her in the eyes, “A. I’m not trying for any ulterior motive. B. You’re wrong. I’m going to fuck YOU tonight.”
“What if I don’t want to?” she asked.
I sat back, slightly confused but perfectly willing to answer the very easy question, “Then we won’t.”
She leaned forward now, almost chasing after me like a dance across the restaurant table, “No. You misunderstand. What if I don’t want to. But maybe a very randy Jane wants her Tarzan?”
I smiled, “Would I drag you back to your room by your hair?”
Another shudder. She closed her eyes, enjoying the sensation before she opened them back up and said, “Maybe.”
“Would I manhandle you and leave your dress all ripped?”

“Then we should hurry up with our shakes, shouldn’t we?”
She nodded, attacking her shake with renewed gusto. We kept chatting while gently stroking each other’s fingers. “It’s funny, but other than you and Louise, I haven’t really ‘dated’ many of the girls I’ve been with.”
“How many is that, by the way?”
“Uhmm… a lot… I really can’t remember. At least 20.”
“And your wife… and other wife… and girlfriend are all really fine with it.”
“It was my wife’s idea actually. The first weekend we got together she helped me seduce the other… uhmm… other wife. And she wants me to have more girls.”
“And presumably girlfriends and more wives even?”

“Not like this. Not about this. Carly and Kyrsten love each other. And they love Louise though that’s a little bit different since they haven’t known each other since childhood. I wouldn’t ever bring anyone else into that mix without buy-in from all of them.”
“But,” she started then shut her mouth again.
“What? Ask the question,” I pushed.
“People get divorced all the time. You’ve created this sort of… web… where if two people eventually decide to get divorced it will tear the whole thing apart. What if Kyrsten and Carly have irreconcilable differences someday?”
“They won’t,” I said. My words and tone spoke confidence but Tennille was voicing the question I’d struggled with ever since all this started. It was a question that sometimes kept me up at night or occupied those dark recesses of my mind. But I did the same thing I did in those dark moments. I pictured Carly and the way she looked at me. I pictured Kyrsten and the way she looked at me. And then I pictured the way they looked at each other. Nothing in the world was a sure bet but I’d bet every penny I had that the three of us would be together forever.
Tennille looked at me in silence, “Sorry to spoil the mood,” she said quietly, her face showing embarrassed discomfort.
“No… you asked and you deserved a real answer. It’s fine. And we don’t have to do anything tonight, you know that?”
She nodded and said quietly, “Thank you.”
We finished our milkshakes, making idle chit chat before walking back to her dorm. About halfway through the walk, she grabbed my hand again and leaned over to me. The warm Miami air made our state of relative undress reasonably comfortable. I wrapped my arm around her and she sighed quietly into my chest as we continued our stroll. “I can see why Louise likes you so much. You seem like a really nice guy, Jay.”
“Thanks. I can see why she thought we’d have fun together… We did have fun, right?”
“When I stopped being a bitch and giving you the cold shoulder? Yeah… yeah we did.”
“Well… me Tarzan, you Jane. Our destiny is be together?” I said doing my best Tarzan impression.
Tennille giggled then broke into a perfect posh british accent, “Oh Tarzan. I do like you. But how could I ever be with such a brute?”
I thumped my chest and snuffled angrily as I opened the door, “Jane not like Tarzan?”
She laughed again, “Oh I do. Very much, dear. And I owe you for protecting me tonight,” she said in a suddenly low, sultry tone. We stepped onto the elevator and she stepped closer to me, kissing me lightly on the chin. “Is there anything that my big, strong Tarzan savior wants that a lady like myself would be able to offer.”
“Kiss?” I said, maintaining the voice.
She kissed me again on the cheek, “Like that?”
“Kiss like this,” I said and grabbed her, pulling her closer to me. She shrieked girlishly as I lifted her feet into the air and kissed her hard. Her shriek died in her throat as our tongues wrestled against each other. Only four hours earlier, I’d had Louise in a similar place, I realized.
Finally she pushed against me, beating her palms against my chest lightly. I broke our kiss and she was still there in my arms, breathing hard and kicking her legs. “Oh, you brute! You brute! I am a lady!”
“Jane no like Tarzan?” I asked, trying my best to sound like a despondent, lonely, uneducated man. The elevator door opened and Tennille scampered down from me, pulling me by the hands down the hall and into her dorm room. The lights were dark with only a soft glow coming from Louise’s room.
“Oh no, Tarzan. I like you very, very much. But a lady like myself has to maintain a certain… image in public,” she said as she coaxed me forward with her finger. I walked towards her and she backed against the wall, suddenly taking on the visage of a terrified, trapped prey animal. “But what I really want, Tarzan, is for you to take me. Do you know the word, ‘primal’”

“It means like an animal. I want you to do what you’ve seen animals do in nature to each other. Do you know what that is called?”

Finally made time to read this - interesting choice. I can see this becoming a challenge from Tennille - can Jay keep the relationship if Tennille joins and then seperates messily? Somehow, I can see her as that kind of manipulative. . .
I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Tennille in this chapter! She seems absolutely delightful, with a vulnerable side that grounds the story in something truthful. I also liked, as pointed out in the story, that it was the rare true "date" among all of Jay's adventures -- the first date with Starla was one of my favorite early chapters (as Starla was one of my favorite characters). There's something about that build-up that results in an even more rewarding pay-off. And as someone who has topped off many an eventful evening at Steak 'n Shake myself, I thought that was a nice touch!
