Takao, however, got off work later than usual. By the time he was home and ready to watch, it was already nearly 8:30. Still, he opened Episode 8 of Madoka Magica without hesitation.
And immediately, the barrage of comments came down like a downpour.

I see what you mean but I think I like the more direct one the author used. Yours gives more explenation but the heaviness of that scene is more focused on emotion. To convey more emotion sometimes explaining more mutes the emotions conveyed.

I feel like for this line, “In this world, girls are called magical girls, but eventually all magical girls become witches.” Something like the below “In this world, girls are called magical girls, and when girls grow up, they become women, so a grown magical girl would be a witch.”
