I have no idea what to name the Dog. Or whether or not Julie is actually able to create sentient life or if they're just advanced puppets.

"It's named Rover!... what, no, after the Moon lander!" "It's named Beagle!... no, after the Mars lander." Could always go with "manifestations of her subconscious expectations" (or inhibited personality traits, or whatever) as a middle ground.
