It only comes back to the front of my mind today because of a nice message I received in my email. Someone was asking whether or not they could get a print of this piece, as they're expecting a baby soon and would like to hang up a print of it in their nursery. I replied saying I don't sell any prints but happily shared with them the original sketch file. It isn't very big but hopefully they can get a decent letter size print with it.
This piece got around far and wide on the internet. Looking at it now, the on model Hobbes is the best part of the picture. I could bore you with a deconstruction of the various areas where this drawing is lacking. I could also talk about how much Calvin and Hobbes meant to me as a kid growing up.
I think I'd like to just talk about how this picture was drawn for 4chan and exemplifies the kind of weird place I feel I have on the internet. These days I'm getting much more comfortable (the money helps) with doing pinups and even some adult work. I sell kinky digital books and make art full of ladies doing non canon things. But I still have something of a soft spot. I don't have many personal limits on fantasies, but I have a vague blurry line for what I want to put out there.
I still look at work like Question Duck fondly. There are a few Question Duck fans that have followed me to my adult art stage. But I wouldn't blame the ones who left because they find my adult art off putting.
I made Question Duck on 4chan too. I got a lot of my internet fame headstart on 4chan because it was a place you could get away with anything. But just because you could get away with anything, it weirdly empowered someone like me, who had the occasional strong sentimental inklings, to succeed there. At least that's how it was back BEFORE it became known as a safe haven for hate groups.
It's different there now and I'm a little different too. I look back on those older years fondly, because it helped me out of a very depressed time. But even though my art is leaning more towards adult stuff these days (still a kind of weird cute adult stuff but adult stuff none the less) I wouldn't spend as much time catering to that site now.

Oh, I remember this! It was back in the day, on /co/'s short lived "Golden age". "/co/ is love" was a thing and drawthreads (and generally the most of the boards in general) where pretty nice overall. There where also cool trip and names like Kosh. Great times, indeed.

I remember this piece. I'll admit that I've followed you since your QD days, and while I found the shift to your 'adult' stuff surreal, it doesn't exactly bother me. It's been interesting, and quite enjoyable to see you branch out and try new things over the years.

Oops, I wanted to make another paragraph but apparently pressing enter submits the comment. Anyway, I just wanted to add that I'm one of those people who don't care for the NSFW/kinky things. That doesn't mean you can't do them or that other people can't enjoy it, but for me it's really the sweet drawings like this one (and e.g. a lot of QD) that stand out, that give me warm fuzzy feelings, that I love, and that I always come back for.

I've always loved this piece, if I remember correctly you had at least one other very nice C&H-inspired drawing. I also thought there was a sweet caption on this one (something about growing up?), but maybe I'm misremembering.
