I'm somewhere in the middle of Indiana. It's dark outside. But the hotel has a cushy bed and wifi so I'm good.
I posted this years ago and got a lot of fun responses, and I posted it again last week and got even more fun responses. I liked the variety too like how people said, "yeah that looks great" or "oh god her knees."
I think that means this is definitely an idea worth revisiting, at least for one drawing. I've been wanting to try and draw a more technical diagram of the briefcase. This requires putting some more thought into it though. Like how would you handle sitting down comfortably? Are you always lying down? And really, what about your knees? Could this design be made to work for bigger people? How do you handle safety? So on. I like thinking about this sorta thing but I wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts about it too. Like... if you were to be carted around like luggage through the airport, like from the time you leave your home to when you arrive at your destination, how would you like it to be handled?
Yes... it's kinda a kink thing too. At least for me. I sorta like small cozy spaces.
To that end, maybe we can design the girl some more too. She's pretty small and flexible, is about all we know about this lady. Maybe she just takes her isolation very seriously and is willing to get into a tiny pod just to avoid contact with anyone else on the plane.

Definitely helps avoid COVID on flights π I feel like this would be a lot safer and more comfortable if she were packed in some kind of cushioning goo or viscous fluid (depending on how much freedom of movement you want to allow) and you could always give her knee and elbow pads. Honestly looks like a pretty sweet way to fly to me, but I think not being able to stretch out would drive me mad though π

Not to muddle the kinks or the pages, but it reminds me of one of the Cass commentaries about how Penny/Minxβs ship is just a hair too sleek and small for a normal non-compressible fully organic body to fit in comfortably. Perhaps a cyborg with her longer mechanical legs detached and folded up on the outside of the case to give her torso and her arms on the inside some more room? Or, depending on how mechanized she is, some variation of all prosthetic limbs being removed and sheβs jacked in through a built in visor or cranial implant to surf the web and get things done hands-freeβ¦

Yeah, I'm thinking it's gotta be something more akin to a sitting position, if a little squeezed. There would probably be different sized cases for folks who are taller or wider or have different needs. The pod itself has to be designed specifically to each user. But to be commercially viable, maybe some aspects of it are modular and interchangeable between custom chassis.

I'm pretty tall, and I've folded myself into plenty of bus seats over the years. I think if the case was slightly taller it would be fine, as the girl would have enough room to wriggle her legs, but as is it kind of looks like a leg cramp waiting to happen

That might be better with some medication? Or maybe it does provide a kind of soothing gas. I like to think though, she's just flexible and comfortable in tight spaces though that might not be good for everyone.

I kind of figured the breathing mask was probably dosing her with some king of relaxant, to mitigate some of the soreness that would otherwise develop from holding that pose.
