The Eternal Autumn by Cassandra Duffy. She unfortunately abandoned the series to focus on her lesbian cowgirl stories, which are also good but didn't hold my interest as well.

Apparently quite often early on, but that was her Orphan suit. She would crash on Steph's couch a lot, despite having her own place, and leave blood stains. This also set a precedent of her wanting to sleep near people that made her feel safe. From the get-go she felt safe around Steph. Other quirks hinted at are being bad at domestic tasks, like doing laundry regularly. There's also a fanon idea that she's bad at fighting games, as the animations and frame management doesn't translate to her ability to read movement.

Reminds me of a fantasy book I read where a big viking lady gets a fairy girlfriend. For a limited time per day the fairy can grow to the size of a human, but when she doesn't she enjoys being adorably small and doing things like taking baths in teacups of having a nice lounging soak in the pool of water that settled between her girlfriend's cleavage that she lovingly held up so that the fairy could relax.
