Patch 0.4.04: Now And Forever

It's time for another update, and this one is extra special. It is something that I've been running towards for so long, and now that it's here, it's almost hard to believe. Transylvania has an ending. I want to thank each and every one of you for your amazing support through the years, without which we would never be at this point, in this state.
Now, on a less solemn note. It's just one possible ending, the first one to be written, and more will be coming in the months ahead. Right now, my main goal was the sketch out Chapter 3 to have a skeleton and a structure to work with.
The Chapter is lean. Many things have been cut out to avoid dead ends. Even in the current state, there are 20,000 new words and multiple scenes to sink your teeth into, including choices and flavor, but it's still in a very linear state, compared to the usual freedom you've had so far. I have been hyper-focused on pushing all the way to the end in this patch, so that was the main priority.
A few more things I would like to address:
Save data corruption: I've seen the reports, I hear you. I know it's highly unpleasant. It's also damn difficult to fix, because I'm calling the save/load functions right from the engine, it's not code I have direct control over. Right now, what I've done is migrate to the newest version of the engine, which has some improvements to save data stability. I hope this will help, but I'm not 100% certain it will resolve everything. I'll be keeping a close eye on the situation.

The Gwyllgi Scenes: for those of you who follow the Discord, you've seen previews of a major new scene in the works. It's complex and very ambitious - almost 30 moving parts to push our ability to animate interactive scenes even further. Unfortunately, I didn't make the cut for this patch. It will be added in February, when I have the time to finish everything needed for a smooth implementation.

-Chapter 3 can now be completed with 1 True Ending, and 3 variations;
-added the Elder to Chapter 3, with a new scene for Elder's Impregnation with 3 variations;
-added Ionut to Chapter 3, with 2 new scenes;
-added Felicia to Chapter 3;
-added a new task: The True Wish;
-added a new location: the swamp;
-added a new scene- True Wish - Demon;
-added a new branch: The Trial, with multiple choices;
Art updates
-new character art for The Elder in advanced stages of Chapter 3;
-new character art for The Wolf in advanced stages of Chapter 3;
-new illustrated scene: Elder's Wife;
-new background: The Swamp;
-new background: The Totem;
-background variations: The Totem;
-added a background for resting in the forest;
-added a background for the back of the cabin and the opening of the secret entrance;
-new UI element for rebirth: The Hourglass;

Thank you for your kind words! It's very encouraging to hear that development feels like it's staying on track and going in the right direction. I have to admit that both adding more features and updating older content have been things I've aggressively tried to resist, at least until the main story is in a near-finished state. As far as the origins of the story - I've always been a fan of bad ends, but noticed that many of the games suffered from a design contradiction where trying to advance the story and trying to get to the scenes were practically mutually exclusive. Failure was required to see all content, but at the same time you were punished for it by having to start over. This is what prompted me to design a system where failing was actually a good thing, hence the time loop, and then many of the other features came naturally as means to actually drive everything forward and keep it fresh rather than the loop becoming its own form of punishment. Driving forward / fighting burnout - I could probably write a book on this topic alone ^^''. It hasn't always been easy. In fact, it has often taken a lot. But, to focus on the reasons for success: getting it out there in the first place (for a long time I naively wanted to have a "good" product before the first public release); getting positive feedback and encouragement; getting negative feedback and bug reports (too large for me to play test every variation, so I'm thankful for every issue brought up); pure obsession; unhealthy amounts of coffee and cigarettes and the ability to write for 12-16 hours in the last days of the month to get a patch out (happens almost every patch); And last, but not least - being kind to myself: almost every patch falls short in some way of what I would have wanted it to be, there's a scene that doesn't make it it, a dialogue has less options and variations than planned, some artwork isn't finished. And I try very consciously to not let it get to me and just be happy that progress has been made, then rinse and repeat. Why a succubus - hand of fate. When I first wrote Alex's transformation I just put a random reason that come to mind that would justify the female form. Many things have been reworked and re-written since those first early drafts, but this choice felt extremely fitting and the story just grew from there. Love this game 💞 I love succubi and they are such an underutilized creature in erotica, NSFW gaming, just in general, that it's baffling and criminal, especially to find actual quality work / writing. Most especially to find works that play into what a succubus actually is, of being dark and horrific. They are my favorite creature. Fortunately Transylvania is there to help fill that hole. I also absolutely love your artist's style, they are a true treasure. I'm happy that this project hasn't gotten trapped in development hell, in feature creep, in constant reworking and rewriting and just retreading the same ground as has been seen with countless other projects. It's been handled well, and it's been exceptional to watch it taking form, even if it has been a while since it first started. If you're willing to exposition a little as the author as to the history of the story, where did your idea for such a project come from? What drove it forward and kept you working on it? Countless, countless, projects have been started (many which have had lots of financial support as well) and were abandoned when the author burns out or some other reason. Finally, why a succubus over anything else? I apologize if these things were answered or gone into in other places, but I never found them if they were, and they're things that I have thought about.

UPDATE: Issue had to do with a check that wasn't properly set up when carrying over from an older version save. I've implemented a small fix, should work now.

Do you mean the dialogue where you cheer him up? I just took a look and gave it a few tests but I don't see any issue.

maybe its just me but if i go to the kitchen in ch 3 and talk to Ionut i get stuck in a loop between the two answers.
