Markus winced a little as the possum stood and made no shortage of noise in the process. Every time she bent at the waist, like when she twisted to get on all fours, or when she put her feet down and lifted, a rumbling rush of gas would noisily make its way out of her body. All of this was clearly known to the wolf watching her, seeing as the woman leaning on the spear was grinning and giggling lewdly every time it happened.
It made things just a bit awkward. Markus half wanted to talk to the woman and half didn’t, just in case that spear was put to use. The possum fidgeted where she stood, pacing sideways away from that center path and its guardian while offering an experimental little wave to the canine (which the guard lazily returned). Every step taken caused a bit of barely audible gurgling inside her, a little shift and surge of pressure under the latex one piece which prompted a reach for her belly. Which, in turn, left the possum stopping where she stood as she looked at her hand. She had still felt the contact against her middle when the coating over her fingers brushed the clothing she wore, but there was a worrying disconnect – or rather a lack thereof. The possum felt it a little too clearly, and the more she looked for one the more it became apparent there wasn’t any real seam between the edge of the ‘glove’ and her skin. Just a blurred line where one become the other.
Taking a slow breath, the possum flinched as some of that steadily bubbling pressure rose up and out of her chest. There was a haze to the staggering hwuuoorphbt that left her eyes watering and her hand fishing out for something to hold onto.
It found one of those odd plant pods to do so with, which left Markus and the possum both agreeing that the sudden rush of alarm they felt over touching something (anything, really) in this bizarre maze was appropriate. Yanking her hand back, the possum found the bulb just sitting there. Prettily.
A slow breath followed that, one that left the possum looking startled again. Markus wasn’t totally sure why at first, but the azure wolf with the circuitry was still laughing. It took slipping into first person to sort it out. Markus found the possum staring at her middle, all of it – the gently swelling curve of her belly and the way it rose and fell when she breathed. Or, rose anyway. It didn’t seem to be falling – at least not as much as it should be.
Markus figured it was likely best to get that under control – it might be a bit uncouth to force out anything more raucous than the possum’s body had already done but if this swelling got out of control the game might end a bit earlier than he needed it to.
A subtle jerking sensation followed that, which left Markus a bit confused – and the possum too it seemed. They’d meant to squeeze her down to size, but it was still just the latex coated hand on the latex wearing belly present. When their first-person view panned over the matter was explained readily enough, the possum’s hand had landed on one of those bulbs – and there was a greenish pink vine of some kind coiled around her wrist that was sprouting from the inside of the bulb.
A sharp yank against it followed, one Markus was actually certain he hadn’t thought of doing but didn’t expressly disagree with either. The problem came from it not freeing the possum’s arm, and instead apparently getting the bulb’s attention as the thing spread itself wide open. Four individual leaves peeled back. Thick, fleshy things with pinkish orange undersides lined with what looked like tiny hairs. There was a sudden counter-pull from the vine around her wrist then, followed by the leaves all closing down around the possum’s hand and wrist.
Screaming was one more of those things the possum did that Markus hadn’t actually commanded but wasn’t about to argue with. It didn’t exactly hurt, there was a lot of squishy, sticky tugging going on but if nothing else the possum was fairly sure her hand wasn’t be eaten. Not quickly, anyway. The problem was no amount of pulling appeared to be enough to get her arm free either. Or rather, that was the first problem.
The second problem was the gigantic bulb, the one that looked rather like the one she was stuck inside of only many times larger, had shifted its position a little toward her and sprouted a thick pinkish green vine from the tip. The possum instantly stopped struggling, stopped moving entirely – which is what finally made her aware that she heard footsteps behind her.
“Ssshouldn’ go touchin’ things, y’know?”
Spinning around, then stopping short again as she heard more rustling from the plants, the possum found the shock-spear wielding wolf standing there, all blue fur and gold lines, smirking and visibly leering.
“Ya look like ya could use help. Or maybe a drink. Which one d’ya want first?”
Rapidly nodding, the possum reached out with her other hand while the wolf leaned in and took a quick swallow off the gourd hanging off her spear. It wasn’t the drink of course, the possum wanted help – reaching out for it she found the wolf standing stock still, just out of reach. Almost. Stretching an extra little bit and grunting, the possum managed to plant a couple of fingers firmly on the wolf’s extended snout. Prodding, wiggling, poking it. Then doing so again, and again when the wolf just sat there.
When what was clearly a snore snuck out of the wolf’s muzzle the possum gave that snout a much firmer booping and produced an angry grunt to go with it, which did wake the guard up – and got her to stumble back and wave the spear perilously close to the possum’s arm.
“Whzzat!? Ngh- oh! Heh, you and the puff-butt. Yeah yeah, I’ll help ya.”
The wolf leveled her spear at the main stalk of the small pod that had the possum trapped but didn’t quite reach out to zap it yet. Instead, she tilted her head at the possum and grinned a bit.
“…If you take my gate out of the chamber. S’real simple! Ya just gotta agree ta stand in the platform in the middle of the walkway fer about, uh – well probably thirty seconds, ish? ‘N then I judge if you’re good ta go, and then you go! Sounds good, right?”
The wolf grinned a bit wider, keeping her eyes locked on the possum and waiting for her answer.
“Or ya could always take yer chances with Audrey Two there.”

Take the route with the wolf. Drunk people are inevitably good entertainment and you could use a hand right now anyway.
