I owe much of the story to cultivation novels, so I hope the story doesn't come off as mean-spirited towards them. They're a big part of the inspiration. But I think it's okay to poke at the tropes every now and then and laugh. :)

Thanks for the chapter. You did a good job giving the children some character with first impressions and I'm sure they'll continue to be fleshed out as well as we go along now that he's committed to being Great Teacher Marcus. I also like that he's a little bit petty sometimes. Going out of his way to learn that voice projection spell just because he didn't like the idea that Gaius knew a spell that he didn't. Threatening to summon the snake again when they got cheeky with him. It makes him more relatable. BTW, when he sent to kids to solve the puzzle spheres he said "One house! Go go go!". You probably meant "One hour!".
