Nate Drees

Someone else mentioned this, but I think I provide a more compelling argument for why it's the case and how to fix it.

Nate Drees

Rereading the whole arc at once, it is structured incredibly well. However, this is an extreme low point for me. I'm hoping you'll get this reference, but it reminds me of Piccolo's death protecting Gohan in the Saiyan saga. Realistically, why on earth would Rikku not try to deflect the sword or knock the opponent off course? I get from a narrative perspective why you'd choose to kill her, and I think it works well conceptually, but it's so abrupt and poorly executed from my perspective because of that. Perhaps noting that she was already extremely woozy from blood loss and low enough on chakra that she can only get one flicker in would make this flow better, but right now I'm just not feeling it.

I’ve just realised something I like about this fanfic while I was reading some other naruto ones is that the fights aren’t just a bunch of 1v1s even when there is a group of people fighting it’s a lot more messy and teamwork focused in this story which is nice 👍

It hit, like right now... Takuma (At least from my POV), has several parallels with a character from an Ishida Manga; Tokio Kurohara. It’s actually really fascinating to think about—Rikku dying in the middle of a war trying to save Takuma, parallels something that happens to Tokio as well.

JaegerAeden

I did prefer the original ending.

Beautiful

The Invasion of the Mansion ends in tragedy for our group of Shinobi. It's fitting. Why do I get the feeling that this might mark the end of Takumas involvement with the war on the Hidden Frost, for the most part? There's still stuff to be done yeah, but I have a gut feeling that the big climactic flourish to the War was Yu. They don't need to capitulate the Frost Village entirely; they just need to secure the towns which feed them or take out their effective fighting-power. But yeah... I can't wait for the next few chapters. Takumas mental state is gonna be taking a serious nose-dive after this, I can tell. It makes me wonder how he's going to react, if he does end up getting a promotion for the mission. A somber relief that he's secured the thing he wanted from this entire ordeal... Or disgust, that he's being rewarded after causing the death of a comrade, a friend.

Kelevra

I Can just imagine all the growth the guilt will cause him

Aeon

but not necessarily from Takuma's, hence the question mark ^^

Joan Casado

Takumas going to have survivors guilt at this rate.

Aeon

I'd add a question mark after the end point of success... What I have in mind : " The mission was over... and it was a success...?"

nicoxyz

not really , 4 ROOT agents dead , one captured , one crippled against one death

hh

I agree. It's a good place to end actually.

Kelevra

She saved him or at least that’s what Takuma thinks, the strike was meant for him and she took the blow. Kon had created a sneaky clone which he used to attack.

Joaquín Repetto

Chapter name: pyrrhic victory

Kelevra

That is true actually. I withdraw my suggestion. In actuality there’s no reason to even change it.

Nate Drees

Disagree. The ellipse creates a pause to amplify the meaning of the following clause.

LOOKOUT

I'm kinda confused. So did Rikku coincidentally get in the way of the sword strike or did she see the attack coming and then decided to get in the way?

Ty Tuttle

Maybe something like “The mission was over… victory, but at a price.”

Kelevra

I’d say just place the … after success instead, nice and simple

Kelevra

So intense, i read it so fast I’ll have to reread it
