Earth Release: Hiding in Rock Technique D Rank - This technique allows the user to camouflage themselves with the earth around and move freely through earth surfaces undetected. Word for word off the wiki so I does allow underground movement. Also Earth Release: Hiding Like a Mole Technique C Rank - Is complete Trash of a jutsu when one could instead learn Earth Release: Underground Projection Fish Technique C rank - or Earth Release: Subterranean Voyage C Rank - both are superior in every way. Imagine Takuma having to fight someone like Garra and decides to go underground and surround himself with freaking sand such a dumb jutsu....

Well, I am not sure about what the outcome should have been... This outcome seems ok to me too. But the fireball is C-rank jutsu... And I think earth must deal with fire jutsus just ok. But he couldn't do so with hiding in the rocks jutsu, cause it only camouflages the user near the earth. It wouldn't have saved from fireball. C-rank Hiding mole jutsu would. And I doubt fireball would have caused any damage, except if he went underground to late. Other way fireball can't burn through the earth to get person. So, well, fireball is overpowered here and Takuma used wrong jutsu. I think in such conditions previous outcome was ok... Takuma technically lose, because he got burnt, because he didn't hide in time, that's ok too.

Not sure how I feel about this fight to be honest. The fight itself was fun and entertaining but it implies quite a bit about Takuma's level of strength and potential. Momoe is the talented prospect. She's had six-seven years of training(4-5 year in the academy witch was still running on war time standards. 1-2 years under a Clan Jonin).Takuma had what? 2 years? At most 3? With minimal instruction. Yet is still able to fight on even ground with an under the rader prodigy whos been getting training from multiple elites. And he thinks he can win? I love it. He doesn't even realize the depth of his own potential. It's just another road block he must over come to survive in this hell world. Its great. Keep moving forward. But I agree with some that it feels kinda unearned.... I'm not against the Tie as it show Takuma's tremendous growth and future potential but the fight just felt off to me. The way he was fighting just isn't what I pictured Takuma doing in an all out fight.(And while yes my own preconceptions make me biased i still felt like this wasn't the tactical Takuma we have all come to love he just felt like he was trying to brute force his way through. Yes takuma is brutal and aggressive but he isn't stupid and i don't see him throwing himself into a melee slug feast when there is other options. Especially when his opponents is obviously specializing in melee). Field control and misdirection and mental warfare is what I always pictured as the basis for Takuma style. Takumas greatest strength in my opinion is his developing battle IQ. He can analyze and plan traps on the fly and find exploits to his advantage. His charka reserves also play into battles of attrition where he can wear his opponents down then move in for the kill strike when they are tired or weak. Even his aggressiveness is to keep his opponents off balanced and to learn how they react and his brutally is about efficiency. A frontal assault especially with some one who is obviously moving towards a specialization in direct combat... sounds inevisible. To be honest i thought he was going to use Lightning Release: Shock on the water to causing Momoe to freeze then just throw a bunch kuni. Water Release: Eight Tentacles does kinda feel wrong for Takuma at least how it is used here and I have to agree with Jayk that the jutsu feels kinda over powered for the rank. And under trained compaired to lvl of boost it gives to one's combat effectiveness. But to me it also just doesn't fit what i thought Takuma's style of combat would be. Takuma doesn't just over power and brute force his opponents in a frontal assault but out maneuvers them. Even his Chakra augmentation is more of a one shot kill technique more ment to punish an opening(that he creates by out maneuvering them)not to overwhelm them. The way the water jutsu is now feels very filler villain ultimate technique esque. I could totally see a chuin lvl shinobi finding this D rank jutsu and seeing its potential decides to train like hell with this one jutsu taking it to kage lvls but only by truly dedicateing them self to this jutsu. I don't see Takuma doing that. That said I could see it as a field control technique with more of an area of effect that surrounds either the caster for a more defensive style or the opponent to attack at all angles. Reduce the number of tentacles to maybe 4 as all he could control right now and he can't move and has to hold the last seal to help focus and make the tentacles attack. That sound more his style and nerfs it enough to make sense for a some what new jutsu of D rank and would still work in the context of the chapter. Also the number of tentacles, movement, and having to hold the last seal are all things he can train out of given time and dedication to the technique. Showing Takuma struggle with splitting his focus could also help show his unfamiliarity with it as well. As for the fire ball I think him dogging it the way hs did was perfect but maybe he freezes at first and it cost him a bad burn. Something he notes he needs to work on. It also gives him some experience with severe burns some of the worst pain imaginable. Any way sorry for the rant everyone just had to get it all out of my head. Also everything here is purely my own observations and opinions as they are. Ja ne
